Battlefield 6 introduces a new feature for the beta, so you won’t have to play maps and modes you don’t want – but the server browser is not it.
What is a server browser?
- A server browser lists all running servers.
- Players can choose a server that matches their preferences, such as using filter options for maps, ping, and modes.
- The server browser encourages the formation of communities, as players can return to the same community server and build relationships with other regular players.
In the beta of Battlefield 6, there is no server browser. EA has now announced that there is an alternative – but it is very limited and only takes over part of the server browser.
What is this alternative? In the second beta of Battlefield 6, there is a custom search feature, allowing you to search for matches that suit your interests.
There are various filter options to specify what will be considered in the search. You select the maps and modes you want to play, thus avoiding maps you are not interested in – for example, if you want to avoid Liberation Peak with its countless snipers.
The custom search is available only for modes with open weapons, meaning where it is possible to play all weapons regardless of your classes.

How is this being received by players? While the community considers it a meaningful addition to the beta, players also criticize EA for not adding the proper server browser to the beta.
The well-known content creator “Westie” commented on X.com: “Cool addition to give players more options! But instead of solving another problem caused by the lack of a server browser… why not add the server browser?” Many Battlefield players use similar wording.
The custom search is only a small alternative to the proper server browser that Battlefield 6 is set to receive at launch in October. It will be available as part of Portal and in the game’s main menu.
