A new update for Apex Legends prevents players from acquiring a skin and loot boxes in an unintended way.
What skin is it about? A few days ago, a collaboration started between Apex Legends and the streaming site TwitchTV. As a holder of a Twitch Prime account, you can get the Omega Point skin for Pathfinder for free. Additionally, you get 5 Apex Packs, which are loot boxes.
This has now been fixed: With a trick, players could claim the loot from Twitch even though they did not have a Prime account. The new update for the PC version of Apex Legends has now closed this exploit. In a tweet, the Apex Legends account explains that all players who have unlawfully acquired the skin and the boxes will lose the skin again.
It is unclear what will happen to the loot boxes that players secured with this method. They are part of the Twitch Prime loot. However, since they have likely been opened by most players, Apex Legends is unable to retrieve them in this instance. However, it might be possible to retrieve the loot obtained from them.
If you have obtained the Omega Point skin of Pathfinder using this method, you will soon not find it in your skin selection anymore.
If you still want the skin, you can do so through the intended method with Twitch Prime. If you haven’t had such a subscription yet, you can use it for free for 14 days and thus get the skin for free as well.
How players obtained the loot with a trick: Shortly after the release of the Twitch pack, a trick circulated in the community.
Players discovered that you do not need to be a customer of the Twitch Prime service to collect the loot. You could simply enter a code in the launch options of Apex Legends, tricking the game into thinking you met the requirements for the skin and the loot boxes.
