A new, old Persona game is getting a literal “revival.” Persona 4 is being remade.
Atlus has announced a new Persona game at the Xbox Game Showcase. Although “new” might be a bit of an exaggeration – but fans of the series have gotten used to this by now.
What has been announced? During the “Xbox Game Showcase 2025,” a small teaser trailer for a new Persona game was released. Although “new” seems a bit questionable here, because the game is titled “Persona 4 Revival.” It is likely a remake of the beloved Persona 4.
Atlus is making another remake, revealing few details
Atlus is known for giving successful games a new version with more content without straying too far from the original. This was also the case recently with Persona 5 and the expanded version “Persona 5 Royal,” or Catherine and its “Full Body” version.
When will Persona 4 Revival be released? There is still no indication of when Persona 4 Revival will be released. As soon as there is concrete information about it, you will read it here on MeinMMO.
What is new in Persona 4 Revival? At least the teaser reveals that the graphics of Persona 4 have significantly improved with Revival. They visually resemble the more modern Persona 5 much more and also offer quite decent shadow effects. As usual, one shouldn’t expect a graphic revolution from Persona; the series traditionally leans towards a somewhat old-fashioned anime look.
Is everything new or just updated? Rumors about a remake of Persona 4 have been around for a while. Therefore, some have asked the “old” voice actors if they will reprise their roles in the remake, such as Erin Fitzgerald. She voiced Chie Satonaka in the original Persona 4 and, according to her own statements (via bluesky), was not asked if she wanted to reprise this role.
This could mean one of several things:
- The development is still in a very early stage.
- There are new voices for the familiar characters.
- Simply the old recordings are being reused.
Since it is completely unclear how much actual “remake” is in Persona 4 Revival, fans of the series will have to wait a while longer until they really find out what exactly they are waiting for.
