The MMORPG streamer Asmongold is one of the largest on Twitch and YouTube in the gaming space. He is now breaking his previous viewer record, even though he can only wait for Lost Ark, which he cannot play yet.
Who is Asmongold? The streamer is one of the largest on Twitch and YouTube in the gaming genre worldwide. On Twitch, he has over 2.6 million followers, and his YouTube channel has 961,000 subscribers.
He mainly deals with MMORPGs and became known through the game World of Warcraft, which he has actively played since 2006. For some time now, he has also been active in Final Fantasy XIV and fell in love with the story of the game.
He often reacts to the opinions of other genre colleagues and frequently takes critical stances on current topics. For example, he believes that only VR can save the MMORPG genre.
The big comeback is getting even bigger: Asmongold had temporarily withdrawn from Twitch after a tragic accident in which his mother was injured and later passed away. In November 2021, the streamer took a break on his main account.
On February 8, he returned with a stream of Lost Ark and delivered the most successful stream in his history, showcasing a game he showed on his channel for the first time.
Asmongold breaks records and takes Lost Ark along
How did he achieve the new record? On February 11, Lost Ark was supposed to be available for everyone. The game was to be accessible not only to pre-order customers but also opened to Free2Play fans.
However, there were some server issues, which caused curious players to wait several hours for the game’s launch. Asmongold spent that waiting time watching videos about Lost Ark and repeatedly tried to start the MMORPG in vain.
Since everyone else couldn’t play either, over 426,000 viewers gathered simultaneously in the stream of the MMORPG all-rounder. This greatly surpassed his previous record of 285,726 viewers.
Those who want to catch up on the moments of the stream can do so on YouTube:
He also contributes to the game’s success: Even before the release, Lost Ark was the largest game on Twitch. Over 1.2 million people watched the game on February 8. Again, when waiting for the release on February 11, over a million viewers gathered in the Lost Ark category on Twitch.
Thus, the MMORPG was not only once again the largest game on the platform, but also managed to surpass the Just Chatting category and was for a short time the biggest category on Twitch.
With over 400,000 viewers alone at Asmongold, it can be said that the streamer contributed significantly to this.
What happened next? When the waiting times were over and the servers finally went live, the viewers of Lost Ark and Asmongold also dropped rapidly. About 3 hours after the launch, however, there were still 211,816 viewers watching the streamer play the game now as he could actually do.
The Lost Ark category dropped to 620,730 viewers in the same time, but remains the most successful category on the streaming platform. This is also due to the fact that Amazon is currently distributing exciting Twitch drops as part of an event.
This is Lost Ark: It is an MMORPG played from an isometric perspective that can be downloaded for free. At launch, there are 15 different classes to choose from.
It is often compared to games like Diablo and offers dungeons, raids, shipbuilding and navigation, housing, and various PvP elements. You control using a mouse and keyboard or optionally with a controller. The game is fully localized in Germany and even has German voice actors.
