Armor is a new action movie featuring Sylvester Stallone. However, the legendary action star cannot elevate the film from mediocrity, according to critics.
What movie is it about? In the upcoming action film “Armor,” Sylvester Stallone plays the villain Rook, who targets an armored truck. Its driver James (Jason Patric) fights not only for his life but also for that of his son Casey (Josh Wiggins), who is riding along in the armored vehicle.
Armor will be available in Germany from February 7, 2025, but not in theaters; rather, it will be available as a stream and on DVD and Blu-ray. This may be for the best, as the film is currently being dismissed similarly to the recent Borderlands movie, which set a negative record on Metacritic.

What do the critics say? On Rotten Tomatoes, Armor currently stands at a disappointing 0% – none of the 20 critics have recommended the action film thus far. Erik Childress from the Movie Madness podcast mocks: “Reports suggest Stallone shot his part in just one day. The rest of the film feels like it was filmed on the second day.”
Glenn Kenny from RogerEbert.com states: Even at the relatively short runtime of 89 minutes, the film still feels stretched.
Critics largely agree that Armor is rather mediocre action film, lacking special ideas and creativity to stand out from the crowd.
And what about the audience? The audience score is still pending, as at least 50 reviews are required for the “Popcornmeter.” The fact that since the film’s US release on November 22, 2024, fewer than 50 viewers have written a review offers little hope.
On IMDb, Armor is also met with lukewarm responses, scoring 3.5 out of 10 points. The film apparently performed particularly poorly in Canada, where not a single person rated it 9 or 10 points. In the USA, at least 30 did.
This currently does not suggest that Armor will be one of those films that, despite failing with critics, achieves a cult status among audiences.

Is everything that bad? Indeed, it currently does not look like the film is particularly recommendable even for hardcore fans of “Sly.” Many find the film simply too lengthy. They cannot understand why Sylvester Stallone is participating – especially not after the really good gangster series Tulsa King.
How many people will ultimately give Armor a chance we will likely find out in February. However, it currently does not seem that Sylvester Stallone can save the action film. Another film also failed despite its star-studded cast: A sci-fi film with dinosaurs became a flop that everyone has forgotten – it failed despite a top star at the box office.
