Arnold Schwarzenegger is a legendary actor who apparently tends to play pranks on acquaintances. A “friendly” wrestler must learn what it means to be ignored for years.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is known for his iconic roles as Terminator, Conan, and in Predator. Besides the big action films, the actor also appeared in children’s and family films. One of them is Versprochen ist Versprochen, which is called Jingle All The Way in the English original.
Alongside Schwarzenegger, today’s wrestling star Paul Wight appears, whom most probably know better by his stage name The Big Show.
On set, the two men met and got to know each other. In a conversation with CVV on YouTube, The Big Show shared that they got along well, and he was sure: He and Schwarzenegger would call each other friends right away. Only a few years later, however, the wrestler was confronted with the “truth” – and became the victim of a prank.
“Arnold Schwarzenegger, nice to meet you”
What did the prank look like? The wrestler remembers meeting Schwarzenegger again about two years after filming. Anticipating to confront a friend, he was surprised.
Schwarzenegger extended his hand to the wrestler and introduced himself with “Arnold Schwarzenegger, nice to meet you”. As if they were meeting for the first time.
At that time, The Big Show was puzzled but didn’t think much of it. That changed when more time passed and the wrestler had gained significant recognition.
Again, there was a meet-up, and once again Schwarzenegger introduced himself as if it were their first encounter. And this, despite one not easily forgetting a man who is about 213 centimeters tall.
The story repeated itself several more times, with the wrestler becoming increasingly confused. After all, his face was known in the USA and they had stood in front of the camera together.
This led to The Big Show’s ego suffering: “I was totally upset. Arnold had nestled into my head.”
How did the story end? It wasn’t until 12 years after the filming of Versprochen ist Versprochen that The Big Show made a decision. He knew he would meet Schwarzenegger on stage at an awards ceremony and planned to respond to the usual greeting with a confrontation.
However, it turned out differently: During his speech, Schwarzenegger started to share that he and The Big Show had shot together back then and were good friends. He then waved to the wrestler and presented him with an award.
It was only then that The Big Show realized Schwarzenegger had been pranking him all those years: “He had been pulling my leg for twelve years! That’s how genius Arnold is… He had lived rent-free in my head for twelve years.” In the end, there was reconciliation.
