In ARK: Survival Evolved, there was an interesting announcement. The game will be split into two projects, and one of them will be free.
The Survival of the Fittest – Free2Play?
Previously, the ARK: Survival Evolved community was teased with a small image showing the head of a dinosaur. However, it was in a metallic form. Is the island going to become more “modern”? Fans had a while to speculate what this could be about.
A few hours later, the announcement was made live on Twitch: The competitive mode named “ARK: Survival of the Fittest” will be a more or less “standalone” game, which will also be Free2Play, to allow more players to participate in this mode.

At the same time, “Survival of the Fittest” will be significantly improved. Frame rate issues will be a thing of the past, balancing will be noticeably fairer, and overall the player experience will be “smoother”. The streamers who had the chance to test the “new” mode definitely praise its improvements, although there are still some bugs to fix.
“Sof” started as a total conversion mod of Ark and is designed for eSports. There are various modes, leaderboards, and leagues. The game is said to be “completely free” and will benefit from the ongoing development of the main game. It is called a “MOSA” – a Multiplayer Online Survival Arena game.
