In Ark: Survival Ascended, a new update has been released, but it caused a serious bug. Developers had to retract the update and perform a rollback.
What went wrong? A few days ago, a new update was uploaded on the servers of Ark: Survival Ascended. With this update, players could now use cosmetic items in the form of mods in their game saves. The developers promoted skins like Mickey and Minnie Mouse from Disney in a new trailer.
However, the update had an unwanted side effect, as players lost items from their inventories for no reason. The developers were alerted and had to revert the update.
Rollback and Compensation
What do the developers say about the dilemma? The developers spoke about the incident on x.com (formerly Twitter) about the incident. They felt compelled to reset the official network to the previous state, specifically to the point where the update had not yet been released.
Players affected by this bug should now have their lost items back. However, if you were not affected and earned new items during that time, you will lose them due to the rollback.
To compensate players, the developers are tripling the Evolution Event Rates. Meanwhile, the team is investigating the cause of the bug.
This is not the first rollback: A few weeks ago, players had to endure another rollback. In this case, however, it was not the developers’ fault, but rather the players. They exploited a bug to gain an unfair advantage. Studio Wildcard implemented a rollback to limit the damage.
What kind of exploit this was and why it was a nightmare for many players can be found here in our article: Players in ARK: Survival Ascended experience the nightmare of an MMO player: A rollback
