The fourth expansion for ARK: Survival Evolved, Genesis Part 1, was originally scheduled to release on February 25 at 7:00 PM. However, Wildcard postponed the release by another 6 hours, only to push it back again. Players pulled an all-nighter.
The release for Genesis was initially supposed to happen at the end of 2019, then postponed to January, ultimately landing in February. It was finally supposed to be at 7:00 PM on the 25th. However, Wildcard decided on another delay and set the new release for 6 hours later. Not everything went according to plan.
Players pull all-nighters
Some players took a day off, others wanted to at least see ARK Genesis or start the download at 1:00 AM. At 12:20 AM came the disappointment: Wildcard has issues, the release must be postponed by several hours.
Players not surprised – Typical Wildcard
This is what the community says: Many players spoke up under the Twitter post by ARK. They didn’t seem too surprised, but were still disappointed. Twitter user GreenDeath13 wrote, “If you’re surprised, you seem to be new here.” Twitter user JoeRaiju summarized the situation with a fitting image:
Despite the disappointed players, the entire situation did not seem to escalate. Quite the contrary. Most players even expected this, it’s just typical Wildcard. Community Manager Cedric had to hear about this:
Most were eagerly anticipating the release and wanted to dive into the new dinos as soon as possible.
Servers up 6 hours later
Only after about 6 hours did the servers start, bringing new problems immediately. PC players couldn’t log into Genesis, and PS4 and Xbox users encountered a small problem, as they couldn’t start the download at all.
Only around 7:00 AM could everyone play Genesis and check out the new missions. Those who purchased ARK from the Windows Store had to wait until around 10:00 AM due to errors between the Xbox and Windows 10 versions.
