ARK: Survival Evolved has just delayed its release, but is significantly enhancing the content.
ARK sells 5 million copies, delivers community content
Although the release of ARK: Survival Evolved was recently postponed from summer 2016 to Christmas 2016, the game is doing fantastically. One record after another is being broken, with reports now citing 4 million copies sold for PC and 1 million versions for Xbox One.
The delay is partly due to the desire to provide a larger mod support than previously available. The community is being given the chance to develop their own mods, and if these are particularly popular or well-made, they may be included in the game. Two of these mods are expected to be released this year. Next month, in May, “The Center” will be released, a map so vast that it “more than doubles” the game’s content. In the summer, a second mod named “Primitive Plus” will follow.
Mods were initially only playable on PC – with these two expansions, they will be playable on Xbox One for the first time.
But the developers are also diligently providing their own content. Recently, patch 239 for the PC version was released, which adds two new animals to the game. “Dire Bears”, large bears, now roam the island while Mantas invite for cool surfing fun if tamed. In addition, players can now craft a chemistry table and a primitive cannon. Those particularly brave can venture into battle against the broodmother – she now has her own arena.
