The new series Arcane has already become a hit on Netflix after the first 3 episodes and will have 6 more episodes in the coming weeks. We from MeinMMO will introduce you to the various characters and champions from League of Legends in more detail.
Which champions appear in Arcane? In the first 3 episodes of the series, you can already find 9 characters from League of Legends:
- Vi
- Jinx
- Jayce
- Victor
- Heimerdinger
- Caitlyn
- Ekko
- Singed
- Ryze (speculation)
However, aside from these champions, there are some interesting characters and especially theories surrounding them. The focus is on Vander, the guardian of Vi and Jinx, and Silco, his insane brother.
We will introduce you to the champions and characters in more detail and will expand the article accordingly when new episodes are released.
The 9 Champs from League of Legends
The following characters come from the game League of Legends itself.
Jinx
Who is Jinx? According to the official lore of League of Legends, Jinx was once an innocent girl and an inventor with big ideas. However, she has now become a “crazy vandal.” What caused this transformation can be seen in the series Arcane.
There she goes by the name “Powder” and is the younger sister of Vi. She is one of the main characters of the series and experiences a very tragic fate.
During a first rebellion of the region of Zhaun against the wealthy residents of Piltover, her parents lost their lives. Since then, she has lived with Vi under Vander’s care.
She also works with a group of teenagers. However, she is often viewed as a “burden” there. Only Vi stands by her side, no matter what mischief or problems Powder faces.
However, a tragic incident occurs in the series. Powder intended to help her group and guardian in a risky situation and activated a type of magic grenade called Arcane.
But during the explosion, members of her group lost their lives. Vi turns away from her sister in disappointment and walks away, but when she sees Silco approaching Jinx with his gang, she immediately wants to help her. At that moment, she is stunned and captured by a Piltover enforcer.
Jinx did not know that her sister was coming to her aid and fell into the arms of the villain Silco. Thus, she was accepted into his gang. Afterwards, she caused chaos in the subsequent episodes, such as nearly destroying an airship or detonating obvious grenades in a plaza in front of the academy.
According to the LoL lore, she later terrorized Zhaun, but also Piltover with this. It was particularly important to her that everyone involved realized that Jinx was responsible for this chaos.
Vi
Who is Vi? Vi is the sister of Jinx. Character-wise, she is the complete opposite. She is loud, rebellious, and constantly ready to fight others. However, she is always concerned about her sister Powder.
She also suffers from the loss of her parents but deals with it in a more aggressive manner. She wants to get back at those above – the residents of Piltover. In doing so, she relies on her strong arms, with which she has won every fight so far.
Later, according to the lore, Vi made a name for herself by saving some miners who were trapped by a rival gang. There, she also found the special glove that became her trademark.
Now she works with Caitlyn, the Sheriff of Piltover. They are also a couple, as can be inferred from some interactions in the game.
By the way, in the official lore of LoL, it has never been mentioned that Jinx and Vi are sisters. However, this theory has existed among fans for a long time. The series has now made it official.
Ekko
Who is Ekko? Ekko is a prodigy from the rough streets of Zhaun. Even before he could crawl, he is said to have built simple machines. In the series, he worked as a child in the workshop of Benzo, a close friend of Vander.
Ekko gives the gang around Vi and Jinx the tip that they can score big with a scientist in Piltover. However, this tip turns into a disaster.
He also overheard conversations between Vander and Benzo and brought this information to the gang, which played an important part in the story.
According to the official lore, Ekko always saw something special in Zhaun, a place with limitless potential. After he found a Hextech crystal, he experimented with it and managed to tear a hole in time and space, which makes him a very interesting champion in LoL.
Jayce
Who is Jayce? Jayce is an inventor who later developed a hammer with the help of Hextech magic to defend himself against all kinds of attackers.
However, as a child, he nearly died early. He and his mother went through a blizzard and were about to freeze to death. But the mage Ryze saved them and left Jayce a magical crystal. This sparked his curiosity about magic.
Later, he was taken in by the Kiramman family, to which the champion Caitlyn belongs, who financed his stay at the academy as they recognized his great potential. He has a friendly or even romantic relationship with Caitlyn.
However, he conducted his experiments with the Arcane without the academy’s approval. When the gang around Jinx and Vi broke into his study and blew it up, he was condemned by the council and expelled from the academy.
However, with the help of Victor, an assistant at the academy, he was able to continue his experiments and even succeed. His experiment impressed Heimerdinger and the other members of the academy.
Viktor
Who is Viktor? Viktor was a humble assistant at the academy, but inside he is an idealist. He wanted to advance humanity and lead it to a glorious evolution in technology.
He also crosses boundaries, such as when he broke into the academy with Jayce to continue their experiments there. He is also seriously ill and has a relationship with Singed, as is revealed later in the series.
In the later lore of LoL, it says that Viktor brought many useful technologies and much automation to the world of Zhaun. He found out that in accidents, humans are usually to blame, not machines.
However, he and Jayce fell out because Viktor wanted to go beyond limits that Jayce did not like.
While Viktor’s studies later led to a catastrophic chemical accident that devastated large districts of Zhaun. To clean it up, he designed a golem named Blitzcrank. However, another academy member stole his work and claimed Blitzcrank for himself.
Furthermore, Viktor was soon expelled from the academy after developing a helmet that could take control over other individuals. Drowning in depression, he rid himself of his human parts and transformed into the machine that can be played in LoL today.
Heimerdinger
Who is Heimerdinger? Cecil B. Heimerdinger is a Yordle, a small creature that is very common in the LoL universe. He is considered a brilliant genius and an excellent scientist.
In the series, he leads the academy where young inventors from Piltover are trained. He is a very understanding guy and tried to help Jayce by advising him to not mention the experiments with magic during his hearing.
He goes to the limits and beyond for science but has learned over the years that not many can understand this eagerness and has therefore become more cautious.
Caitlyn
Who is Caitlyn? Caitlyn is the daughter of the Kiramman family, which is very wealthy and influential in Piltover. She is considered very nature-oriented but also knows how to behave within the wealthy elite of the city.
In Arcane, she has only brief appearances, but it is clear that she was very close to Jayce. However, this relationship could not continue after his expulsion from the academy.
According to the official story from League of Legends, it is further stated that during a raid on the Kiramman house, Caitlyn’s parents were kidnapped. She pursued the thieves and managed to rescue her parents. The mastermind behind the kidnapping left only one clue: “C.”
Following the kidnapping, her parents withdrew from politics, and Caitlyn became a private investigator. Later, she earned a good reputation and became the Sheriff of Piltover. There, she worked alongside Vi.
Singed
Who is Singed? He is a scientist and alchemist from Zhaun who stops at nothing. In the series, he is only briefly seen as Silco’s assistant.
Some speculated that Silco could be Singed himself, but in the credits of the series, it is clearly recognizable that Silco and Singed have two different voices. This makes it clear that the assistant is Singed.
According to the LoL lore, Singed later worked on a weapon for Noxus, a huge alchemical fire that burned everything. This weapon was used in the fight against Ionia and shook the entire world of Runeterra. Although Singed was not declared a war criminal, he has since been ostracized by many.
Ryze
Who is Ryze? Ryze is a mysterious mage traumatized by the Rune Wars who has made it his mission to banish the powerful runes so that they never cause such a terrible tragedy again.
In the series, Ryze has so far only had a brief appearance, if at all. At the beginning of Episode 2, a mage can be seen teleporting Jayce and his mother out of a blizzard with a Realm Warp, which would have otherwise killed them. He is one of the reasons why Jayce is so interested in magic.
There are indications that this mage is Ryze. However, there are objections, as he lacks the blue skin and the staff does not match Ryze.
9 important characters who are not LoL champs
There are a number of characters in Arcane who do not appear in the game League of Legends – at least not yet. These key figures still play an important role in the plot of Arcane.
Vander
Who is Vander? Vander is the guardian of Vi and Jinx. He once led a rebellion from Zhaun against Piltover along with Silco. In this rebellion, the parents of the siblings lost their lives. After that, he felt responsible for them.
Vander is something like the leader in the underworld of Zhaun. The people respect him. However, he has experienced so much suffering that he has now grown older and more bitter.
He does not want to risk another conflict between the regions, so he made an agreement with Grayson, the leader of the Piltover guards.
There is speculation that Vander could later become Warwick. After all, he consumes the substance that, according to the lore, was also created by Warwick. Moreover, his nicknames in the series and his general physique support this. At the end of episode 3, it is unclear whether Vander is alive or dead, but he has not appeared in the subsequent episodes so far.
Silco
Who is Silco? Silco led a rebellion against Piltover but nearly got killed by Vander. Apparently, Silco wanted to go too far, and Vander felt compelled to eliminate him first.
In the series, there are several flashbacks to the scene where Vander tried to drown Silco. During this, Silco accuses his former friend of neglecting his duty. Although Silco did not die in Vander’s attack, his eye was mutilated.
Since that incident, Silco swears revenge on his former friend and works with Singed. He develops the Shimmer that altered Deckard and later Vander.
Silco is responsible for the deaths of several characters in the first episodes, including Benzo, Grayson, and the two members of the youth gang, Clagger and Milo.
At the end of the third episode, Powder also joins Silco’s group. Therefore, he plays a role in Powder’s transformation into Jinx.
Deckard
Who is Deckard? Deckard is a street kid who stalks Vi’s youth gang in the first episode and fights with them. In the further course, he is administered Shimmer by Silco, which quickly made him addicted.
Since then, he has done the dirty work for Silco, having become a kind of “Hulk” through the power of Shimmer.
Medarda
Who is Council Member Medarda? Mel Medarda is a member of the council of Piltover and the richest woman in the city. However, she wants more and to make a name for herself that will not be forgotten.
She is cold and calculating and is indirectly very disrespectful, as she gifts another council member a child’s toy while telling him that only the smartest minds could solve it.
When Jayce and Viktor secretly break into Heimerdinger’s laboratory, she lets them proceed because she hopes that their experiment with magic will succeed, and a revolutionary invention will be in her hands. Later, she starts a relationship with Jayce and even helps him to secure a position as a council member.
Bolbok
Who is Bolbok? Bolbok is a kind of golden cyborg and also a council member. He despises magic because it nearly wiped out his entire race.
He is also very strict and immediately demanded Jayce’s expulsion from Piltover. Furthermore, he demanded all harshness from the guards against the people of Zhaun to find those responsible for the explosion in Jayce’s house.
Milo and Claggor
Who were Milo and Claggor? The two were members of the youth gang around Vi and Jinx.
- Milo was somewhat rebellious and treated especially Jinx very unfairly. However, he was very skilled with lock picks and was able to open many doors and locks.
- Claggor, on the other hand, was a quiet and kind guy. He was a bit chubby, which he compensated for with a lot of strength.
Both, however, died in the great explosion caused by Jinx.
Benzo
Who was Benzo? Benzo was the owner of a shop in Zhaun. He was a good friend of Vander and was supposed to represent him as a kind of leader when Vander was taken away by the guards in Episode 3.
However, he is torn to pieces by Deckard in this episode.
Grayson
Who was Grayson? Grayson was the leader of the enforcers of Piltover. She had a deal with Vander so that both factions would no longer meet on the battlefield.
During the search operations in Zhaun, she tries to hold back the guards to avoid awakening the wrath of the residents. She also tries to stop the searches against Bolbok.
Like Benzo, she is killed by Deckard in the third episode.
