Apple unexpectedly reduced the price of a product. To correct the “error,” an email has now been sent to the affected customers.
What kind of product is it? In early 2026, Apple introduced two new monitors: the Studio Display and the Studio Display XDR, which are primarily aimed at professionals. Accordingly, the price is also high: After all, the price for the XDR model starts in Germany at 3,499 euros.
It’s particularly frustrating when you invest 3,500 euros, only to find out a few weeks later that the price has been reduced by several hundred euros. Exactly that has now happened, and Apple has responded positively to the customers.
Apple retroactively lowers price for expensive monitor by 400 euros
What exactly happened? The company offered the Studio Display XDR with two stand options: a VESA mount adapter and one that Apple refers to as a “tilting and height-adjustable stand.” Until this week, both versions had the same price, but then Apple lowered the price for the version with the VESA mount adapter by 400 dollars.
This is how Apple responded: The company sent an email with 4 sentences to customers who purchased the Studio Display XDR with VESA mount at the higher price, informing them that they would receive a refund of 400 dollars. The email states (via Fastcompany.com):
Thank you for your recent online purchase at the Apple Store. Apple has recently lowered the price for the “Studio Display XDR” – with standard glass and VESA mount adapter – that you ordered. We are pleased to inform you that we will refund you the difference between the price you paid and the new, lower price. The latest information about your order can be found under “Order Status Online.”
This is good news for all buyers who ordered the expensive variant and are now receiving 400 US dollars back. Whether the refund also applies in Germany is something we could not verify. However, the price differences also exist here. You should be able to check any refunds in your order.
A then 19-year-old took on Apple and later got hired by the same company. However, due to an email, he was dismissed a year later.
