Hackers have been wreaking havoc in the new battle royale hit Apex Legends for a while now. Apparently, the problem is getting worse. But according to a report, developer Respawn now wants to take action against the cheaters.
This is Respawn’s plan: The developers plan to introduce a reporting system for Apex Legends. Players will likely be able to report suspicious behavior of other players directly in the game.
This was confirmed by the Product Manager of Apex Legends, Lee Horn, on reddit. In the thread, it was about the changes in the new patch of Apex Legends.
When asked what is being done against the hackers, Horn wrote:
A more detailed post about cheating is coming, I don’t want to steal the spotlight from Jay [, the Community Manager,] but a reporting feature is definitely on the way.

What the feature will look like is still not known. Currently, cheaters and hackers can only be reported cumbersome through the Origin website. Players are now speculating about a button in the game when the supposed hacker is being watched.
Where does the decision come from? The report is likely also a reaction to the outcry from several streamers and players of Apex Legends. The well-known streamer Dr DisRespect had triggered a “hacker alert” shortly before.
Doc was not alone in this. Also, the probably best player of Apex Legends, Dizzy, has noticed an increasing number of hackers. They have increasingly disturbed and angered the community. The lack of a reporting system has caused frustration and annoyance among many players of Apex Legends.
How does Apex Legends stand? Since its launch on February 4, Apex Legends has been continuously growing and has quickly displaced competitors on Twitch. With now over 50 million players, it has grown faster than rival Fortnite.
Despite some errors, Apex Legends is well received, even or especially among players who usually do not like battle royale at all. According to our survey after a month of Apex Legends, the MeinMMO community is totally into the new BR hit.
The success and the genre itself also attract players who play unfairly: hackers, cheaters, and botters, who sometimes cheat even in the professional environment. This is almost unavoidable and is always a reason for frustration. It remains to be seen how effective the upcoming measures, such as the reporting feature, will be.
What do you think of the upcoming change?
Many players are hoping for quick changes. Perhaps with Season 1, which still has no concrete start date:
