Apex Legends surprisingly received a Christmas event in a new update, without much announcement. This includes a new game mode as well as a ton of skins and even an heirloom.
What’s included in the Christmas event: During the 2019 Video Game Awards, the in-game character Mirage presented his own event “Holo-Day Celebration” in a quirky video call. This is the name of the Christmas event in Apex Legends.
This brings:
- Challenges for cosmetic rewards
- 24 additional cosmetics from loot boxes
- 8 legendary legend skins
- 4 legendary weapon skins
- 3 epic legend skins
- 5 epic weapon skins
- 2 weapon charms
- 2 epic banner poses
- A new heirloom set for Pathfinder
- A limited-time mode: Winter Express
Additionally, during the event, the ship “Mirage Voyage” will be found on the map World’s Edge. The update went live today, Friday, December 13, and additionally, a double XP event is taking place from December 13 to 16.
New Christmas Skins and How to Get Them
These new legend skins are available: Each of the ten legends gets a new skin, the new legend Crypto from Season 3 even two. All of them have a festive touch and an appropriate look. In detail, there are:

- Lifeline: Snow Crystal (epic)
- Wraith: Wreath (epic)
- Bangalore: Stay Frosty
- Caustic: Klaustic
- Crypto: Hack Frost

All legends also receive special “Holiday remarks” in which they reference winter while throwing out some really cheeky lines. The Season 2 legend Wattson for example says: “Don’t worry, I’m sure Père Noël would have just gotten you coal as well.”

So bekommt Ihr die Skins: All skins and additional cosmetics can be obtained in the event loot boxes. At least one of the three items is guaranteed to be a holiday item. The probabilities are:
- Event item: 50% chance for an epic item, 50% chance for a legendary item
- 2 non-event items: each 70% chance for “rare”, 20% for “epic” and 10% for “legendary”
As with the previous Halloween collection event, you can also purchase all items outright for Apex Coins or craft them for materials. The costs are:
- for epic items 1000 coins or 800 materials.
- for legendary items 1800 coins or 2400 materials.
If you collect all cosmetics, you will receive the heirloom set “Boxing Gloves” for Pathfinder free of charge. After the event, this will be available as a bonus in Apex Packs, which may end up being very expensive.
Challenges and Additional Rewards
These rewards are also available: During the event, you can complete some special challenges. They reward you with additional cosmetics:
- Log in during the event: Holiday Music Pack
- Conquer the Winter Express 3/15/75 times: Holo-Day Bash Badge (various levels)
- Reach the top 10 5 times: Holiday Loading Screen
- Get a kill with 6 different legends in Winter Express: Weapon Charm
- Deal 20,000 damage: legendary skin for the L-Star
- Start the party at Mirage Voyage: legendary skin for the G7
This is how “Winter Express” works
What kind of mode is this? Winter Express is a new, limited-time event mode. You will only enter with three teams of three people each and try to gain control of the moving train on World’s Edge.
The rules of Battle Royale are turned off, and you play by “King of the Hill” rules. Instead of collecting weapons, each legend starts with a set, different loadout that changes daily.
