Who is it about? The Apex player and reddit user Karan claims to be a so-called “whale,” meaning a player who keeps the game running through above-average spending on microtransactions.
During his playing time, he accumulated 650 legendary skins, several Apex Predator badges in the ranked mode, and 9 of the incredibly expensive and coveted heirlooms, and his account is said to be worth over 3,000 US dollars.
What was the initial situation? After a round in Apex, Karan was contacted by another player on Discord. He was very impressed with Karan’s progress and wanted to see his account during a Discord stream.
This sounded harmless to Karan, and he started a broadcast. But even though he apparently had not shown any sensitive data, Karan was shocked after a short pause.
Because apparently, his account was suddenly in use elsewhere and he could not get back in. He had likely been hacked.

What happened next? Since Karan had already been a victim of account hacking once before, the fright was limited, and he immediately resorted to the EA support to get his account back.
But then the real drama began.
This is how the thief reacted: Because while he was going through the annoying, nearly 30-minute account recovery process, the account thief changed the email address associated with the account again, preventing the recovery. This happened several times. Anytime Karan wanted to recover his account, the thief intervened and changed the email.
That was already bizarre enough, but it got even wilder. Because suddenly the thief contacted Karan again via Discord and mocked him: “Let me know when you’re done talking to Yaman. I’ll wait as long as it takes!” Yaman was the EA support employee currently handling the case that Karan was chatting with.
Karan initially suspected that his system might be infected with malware, had various antivirus programs check the system, and tried again for safety from an Apple laptop. But again, the thief was able to thwart his recovery attempts every time.
This could be behind the thief: The thief continued to humiliate Karan via Discord and even claimed to be an EA employee.
The thief, meanwhile, is laughing about it on Discord and wishes the investigators “good luck!”. Meanwhile, EA is confident that they will find the culprit in the coming days.
