Many players of Anthem are struggling with the Tomb Quest, where you need to open 4 tombs for the story. Our guide explains how you can do this.
The “Tomb Quest” is already notorious: The horror quest “Tomb of the Legionnaires” is currently driving some players crazy. Many found it annoying and cumbersome to complete. This quest is also a prerequisite to progress in the story.
Your task as a freelancer is to open and complete the 4 tombs. The actual minimum level for this quest is 9-10. Thanks to one of the changes from a hotfix that was applied server-side, the tasks are counted starting from level 3.
What can you expect in the tombs? Not much. You can go a few meters into the tomb, interact with it, and then go back to the remaining tasks.

The Tomb of the Legionnaires
What do I need to do? But to open these tombs, you first need to complete some tasks. There are a total of 15 grind tasks that you can complete in free play. We summarize how to open and complete the tombs.
Once you accept this quest, the new tasks you need to complete will be displayed in the menu under Challenges and under the section “Free Play”.
The Tomb of Yvenia
The Tomb of Yvenia is located directly northwest of Fort Tarsis and is not hard to find.
You need to complete these tasks to open the Tomb of Yvenia:
- Open 15 treasure chests
- Collect 25 materials
- Repair 3 Javelins
- Find 10 collectibles
Finding collectibles in Anthem? Many players did not even know what exactly those were until this quest. They are books, documents, inscriptions, and other lore items. You can find them randomly in the open world. Apparently, they are mainly found around buildings and tents. In the following video, you can see the locations of 10 of these collectibles:
This is how you find treasure chests: Head into free play, preferably on hard. This way, the probability of landing on a map with 3 other players is at least lower. Treasure chests are scattered all over, usually found in ravines or at the bottom of lakes and waterfalls.
Only each chest you find counts that you open yourself. At the moment (February 20), it is not counted for the whole group. This should change in the future via patch.
For example, you can find a chest directly when you leave Fort Tarsis. As soon as you spawn, fly straight ahead. Soon, you should see a waterfall flowing into a kind of round ravine below you. At the bottom of that water body, you will find a chest.

The Tomb of Artinia
The Tomb of Artinia is located north of the Yvenia Tomb. Just orient yourself at the edge of the map.
You need to complete these tasks to open the Tomb of Artinia:
- Kill 9 elite enemies
- Complete 5 world events
- 30 weapon kills
- Achieve 15 weak point kills
Where do I find elite enemies? You can recognize elite enemies by their designation “(Elite)” in the name. You can mainly find them on missions and strongholds, but also during world events in free play.
The Tomb of Cariff
The Tomb of Cariff is located in the Emerald Abyss area, at the northeastern edge of the map.
You need to complete these tasks to open the Tomb of Cariff:
- Complete 3 kill streaks
- Complete 3 missions
- Achieve 30 gear kills
- Trigger 15 combos
This is how you achieve kill streaks: A kill streak counts if you eliminate 8 enemies within 10 seconds. You need to do this 3 times.
You must ensure that you actually deal the final blow and that your enemies are not eliminated by an effect or a teammate.
Explosive skills are especially suitable for this purpose. Examples of skills that can effectively kill multiple enemies at once are the poison cloud of the Interceptor and the grenade launcher of the Colossus.
The ultimate ability of the Ranger is probably the best way to take out many enemies at once. The same goes for the Storm’s ultimate, which rains down elemental storms.
This is how you achieve gear kills: Gear kills are kills made with one of your skills. The Colossus is particularly well-suited to achieve gear kills with its flamethrower. However, this can essentially be done with any Javelin.
The Tomb of Gawnes
The Tomb of Gawnes is located in the northwest of the map. Orient yourself from Fort Tarsis along the western edge of the map, and you should find it.
You need to complete these tasks to open the Tomb of Gawnes:
- Achieve 50 melee kills
- Make 50 ultimate kills
- Complete 3 legendary kills
Where do I find legendary enemies? You can recognize legendary enemies by their designation “(Legendary)” in the name. Like elite enemies, you can find legendary foes on missions and strongholds and also during world events.
This is how you easily achieve melee kills: The Interceptor is very well suited to achieve the required melee kills.
Use world events: World events are a very good way to fulfill many of these tasks at once, as they consist of several waves of enemies and also present you with legendary and elite enemies.
