GW2 grants developers a break while GW1 is booming with player numbers
What happened with the big MMORPGs:
- Lost Ark received its smallest weekly update so far. In addition, a new event started over the weekend where you can quickly and easily earn 600,000 silver. However, the highlight of the week was the teaser for the new class Lance Master, which is expected to arrive next week.
- In WoW, the new expansion will be presented next week. This week, however, there was an update allowing you to craft Tier Sets yourself. There was also a big discussion about WoW’s player numbers.
- In Final Fantasy XIV, there was a change to housing that disappointed many players. Additionally, PvP is currently booming, which was previously quite unpopular.
- In Guild Wars 2, there was a new developer letter discussing rewards, upcoming updates, and a regeneration break for the developers (via GW2).
What is happening with the small MMORPGs:
- New World has released a new patch and a killer rabbit event. In addition, there was a preview of the May patch and upcoming PvP arenas.
- Guild Wars 1 will soon celebrate its 17th birthday, and coincidentally, there are now new servers and the news that the player numbers have tripled since 2018 – and that without new content.
What is happening with the MMORPGs in development:
- Tower of Fantasy will start its beta on April 19. It is an anime MMORPG reminiscent of Genshin Impact.
- The social MMO Palia has started an alpha in which testers have destroyed the game by baking too much cake.
- Richard Garriot, the creator of Ultima Online, is working on a new MMORPG.
- The studio Improbable has introduced its new technology that allows 10,000 players to play in one place.
