This week revolved a lot around the new expansion of Final Fantasy XIV and ArcheAge, where there were rumors of a shutdown of the western servers. In addition, we summarized all the news about WoW, Blue Protocol, and many other MMORPGs.
The highlight of the week:
- Final Fantasy XIV announced its new expansion Dawntrail. Players are already speculating about which two new jobs will be coming.
- Additionally, the MMORPG will finally be released on Xbox.
The controversy of the week: There were some discussions about ArcheAge. An insider claimed that XL Games is cutting jobs and that the MMORPG will soon be shut down in regions outside of Korea. The developers denied it but left a back door open. It is said: “However, some regions that do not perform as expected are being evaluated regarding the termination of their service.”
This week in the podcast: In their own podcast MMO News, the two MeinMMO editors Alexander Leitsch and Mark Sellner will again discuss the most important news related to MMORPGs. Topics included gameplay of Palia and Blue Protocol, the new games Ares: Rise of Guardians and the Warhammer MMORPG, as well as information about the biggest games currently.

WoW has problems with healers and we played the western version of Blue Protocol
What happened with the major MMORPGs:
- In WoW, the problem with healers is escalating. Additionally, there were discussions about new players being repeatedly kicked from dungeon groups. A sweet story revolved around a mother who said “My daughters owe their existence to WoW.”
- In WoW Classic, a ring was auctioned for about 13,000 euros. There is also a significant problem with bots.
- Guild Wars 2 published a blog post about the story. It concerns the transition between expansions and the return of the Asura Zojja (via GW2).
- You can test ESO+ for free until August 3 (via ESO).
- Black Desert made changes to open-world PvP in Korea and will become even friendlier for PvE players. Additionally, there is new loot at Prime Gaming.
What happened with the minor MMORPGs:
- In New World, the Summer Medleyfaire event has started (via New World).
- The PvE MMORPG Embers Adrift has released a new update, featuring new quests, new equipment, and many minor adjustments (via Embers Adrift).
- Our hidden gem Broken Ranks now features three different difficulty levels for instances (via MassivelyOP).
- Fractured has launched new tests and released a major patch with balance and movement adjustments (via Fractured).
- Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis will receive a major update in August featuring guild housing, new quests, and new gear (via YouTube).
What happened with the MMORPGs in development:
- We were finally able to play the western version of Blue Protocol. In addition, Amazon announced adjustments to the editor and the appearance of some characters, to which some complained about censorship.
- The new Warhammer MMORPG is likely to be a PvE game and will probably be released for PC and console.
- Tarisland discussed player requests for changes, including no gender lock and adjustments to appearance.
