In Old School Runescape, the developers listen to their community. However, there is one decision made by the players that they cannot understand.
What sparked the debate? In Old School Runescape, players get to decide on changes in the game. The developers always present the changes, and then the players can vote for or against them. If 70% are in favor of a change, it will be implemented; otherwise, it will not.
However, the latest survey was rejected, and the developers do not quite understand why.

Louder instead of Quieter
What was the survey about? This time, the developers’ survey concerned various mini-games, including the mini-game “Temple Trekking”, a swampy obstacle course with various combat and puzzle challenges.
There, you encounter the “Nail Beasts”, which are said to make the most horrifying sounds ever. Even fingernails on a chalkboard and screaming babies are probably not as bad as these cat-like creatures.

As terrible as the sound of the creatures may seem, the result to the question of whether the volume should be lowered is equally unusual. Only just under 60% of the players voted in favor, meaning the required 70% for a change was not reached.
On X.com, the developers write that the change will not be implemented, but they are also interested in understanding the reason for this.
They ask on X.com: “Help us understand. Do you want the Nail Beasts to be louder? Perhaps a small chance to play the sound at full volume when you receive an xp drop?”
How have the players reacted? The players want the sounds of the creatures to be louder, not quieter. In response to the developers’ post, several comments are gathering on the topic.
