What exactly is this update? With the new update, VRR will be activated on the PS5. This feature synchronizes your frame rate and the graphical representation of the PS5. As a result, disturbing graphic glitches as well as delays and stuttering are minimized. The gameplay thus feels much smoother for you, especially when playing at high frame rates.
When will the update be released? Sony explained in an official blog post that the update for the PS5 is expected to arrive this week (via blog.playstation.com).
How do you activate VRR on the PS5? Once you have installed the update, VRR will be automatically activated in supported games. However, you must ensure that your PS5 console is connected to a VRR-compatible TV or PC monitor. You can often tell that the TV or monitor supports HDMI 2.1.

Can you deactivate VRR on the PS5? If you experience issues with VRR, you can simply deactivate the feature under “Screen and Video” in the system settings. Additionally, you can also activate VRR in PS5 games that do not support it. This can improve the video quality in some games.
