Roccat’s Vulcan is also a real recommendation for 90 euros in 2023
What kind of keyboard is this? Roccat focuses on a playful design and consistently high-quality workmanship with its Vulcan keyboards. The Vulcan 121 is no exception. And you have to like the playful, open design of the Vulcan series.
In fact, I ultimately bought the keyboard because of its great design. The fact that the Vulcan 121 is one of my absolute favorites is not due to the design, but to the switches under the keys. Roccat uses its own Titan switches. And I personally really like the tactile, brown Titan switches. I find them excellent for typing.
The combination of good workmanship, pleasant haptics, and great typing feel makes the keyboard an effortless recommendation for me. Especially since Roccat has addressed the issue with the peeling keycaps.
Heavy typers would probably prefer keyboards with blue switches, but I have felt the most comfortable on brown switches for years because I absolutely need the clear pressure point of the brown switches, while blue ones are almost always too loud for me. Are there also disadvantages? Yes, and one of them is the keycaps. They get dirty quite quickly, but are still relatively easy to clean. Nevertheless, I am not a fan of cheap ABS keycaps that look terrible after a few days. Another disadvantage is the rigid and non-removable cable. However, in the TKL and mini variant, it is removable. The successor again failed to make the cable removable.
