The First
Now it gets a bit complicated, as “The First” is actually Vecna in Stranger Things, but he is not the Vecna that already exists as a killer in Dead by Daylight. Instead, The First refers to Henry Creel, the primary antagonist of Stranger Things.
He attacks enemies with vine attacks and can switch to “the other side” to travel quickly there. The First is of average height, has a terror radius of 32 meters, and moves at a slightly reduced speed of 4.4 m/s (110%).
Special Ability: Vine Attack and Subgate – The vine attack is the primary way to transfer counters from Worldbreaker to survivors. As long as you hold the ability button, you can select a target area over great distances (even through walls). With the attack button, you then summon a small rift from which vines will break after a short delay, hitting all survivors in the target area. The ability has an extremely short cooldown and can be used in rapid succession.
The second ability is the other side and the associated subgate. The First dips into the ground and can move across the map as a bubbling puddle at high speed. When he wants to resurface, he must channel the ability. From his standpoint, a growing area attack appears that will then hit all survivors in the area with a vine attack when he resurfaces.
If enough survivors have been hit by vine attacks or the subgate, the Worldbreaker mode is activated, recognizable by a clock at the top of the screen. During Worldbreaker mode, all special attacks (vine attack and subgate) deal damage to all affected survivors.
How to properly use vine attack and subgate? To hit with both abilities, it is crucial to anticipate the movements of the survivors. Especially with the subgate, it can be worthwhile to drive the survivors into a corner from which they cannot escape until he resurfaces.
The vine attack, on the other hand, simply requires practice and is great for hitting survivors who think they are safe behind a wall at a generator or in the deceptive security of a pallet.
It is important to always take advantage of Worldbreaker mode as soon as it is active. Here, one should quickly set up at least one devastating subgate and attempt several vine attacks in a row – especially when multiple survivors are close together, as multiple injuries are possible simultaneously.
Who is The First suitable for? The First is suitable for all fans of Stranger Things – this is of course clear. After all, the killer is clearly the realized power fantasy of the horrifying monster from the series. However, one should be open to mindgames. Because only if you frequently hit with vine attacks and the subgate can you benefit from Worldbreaker and the strength of the killer. Otherwise, the killer is slower than his colleagues, and that can lead to frustrating experiences.
