The Executioner
The Executioner originates from the “Silent Hill” universe and possesses a variety of special abilities. He is also known as “Pyramid Head.” He can cover areas with barbed wire and has multiple execution methods that go beyond the victim hook.
The Executioner is quite a large killer and can be seen clearly from a distance and over obstacles. His terror radius and movement speed correspond to the standard values.
Special Ability: Rites of Judgment – The Executioner’s special ability is the Rites of Judgment. Holding down the ability button, the Executioner slams his massive sword into the ground. He can continue to move while pulling a trench of barbed wire behind him that lasts for a long time. The barbed wire is drawn until the Executioner releases the ability button or the energy for it runs out.
The energy for Rites of Judgment automatically recharges over time. The ability can be activated again even if the energy is not fully charged. The duration of usage is then correspondingly shorter.
This is what you need to know about the barbed wire:
- Barbed wire dissolves in direct proximity to generators and hooks after a few seconds.
- Barbed wire disappears after a while or when survivors pass through while walking or running.
- Barbed wire has no effect when survivors creep past it.
Survivors who come into contact with the barbed wire while walking or running temporarily reveal their position to the Executioner. They are then afflicted with the “Torture” effect, which opens new possibilities for the Executioner. Torture causes several things:
- Survivors afflicted with Torture and going down can be teleported directly to a Penalty Cage. The Penalty Cage functions largely like a Sacrifice Hook, but the Killer does not need to carry the Survivor there first.
- Survivors afflicted with Torture, going down, and about to die at their next Hook can be instantly executed by the Executioner with a swift animation.
- Survivors with “Torture” are easier to track as they drag a new visual effect behind them.
- Torture is removed when rescuing a Survivor from a Penalty Cage or being rescued from a Penalty Cage oneself.
Other Survivors can rescue their allies from a Penalty Cage just like they would from a Hook.
It is important to know that Penalty Cages do not work with many Perks. Perks that are explicitly triggered when taking a Survivor to a Hook (like Barbecue & Chili) will not be triggered by the Penalty Cage.
Special Attack: Punishment of the Damned – While Rites of Judgment is active (meaning the sword is thrust into the ground), the Executioner can perform a special attack using the attack button. This will send out a wave forward after a short delay, hitting all survivors in the target area.
What you need to know about Punishment of the Damned:
- There is a delay of just under a second before the attack is executed.
- The attack can injure multiple survivors at once.
- The attack goes through all objects and walls.
How to properly use Rites of Judgment? The correct use of Rites of Judgment is “Easy to learn and hard to master.” It is worth continually spreading barbed wire trenches around the map. It is especially wise to place these wires in a way that cuts off the survivors’ paths. So place them near pallets, at chokepoints, or at doors and popular loops. Sooner or later, survivors will be forced to run through the barbed wire.
The special attack is somewhat harder to use. Due to the delay, you have to guess where the survivor will run next. Do not use the attack too often in succession. It may be worth finishing a chase “the classic way”, especially against attentive survivors.
The perfect timing for the special attack is whenever survivors cannot evade – such as when they jump through a window or are in a very narrow corridor. The more open space there is, the easier it is to evade.
Who is the Executioner suited for? The Executioner is suited for all fans of Silent Hill who want to step into the role of the villain. At the same time, the Executioner is also a blessing for players who enjoy mind games and want to outsmart their opponents. Especially the correct use of “Punishment of the Damned” is a very satisfying feeling.
