The Deathslinger
The Deathslinger is the first killer in Dead by Daylight to have a real firearm. This weapon has been modified to shoot spears on a chain, with which the Deathslinger can then pull the hit survivors towards him.
The Deathslinger is quite a large killer, so he can already be seen from a distance. He moves slightly slower than other killers, but has a smaller terror radius.
Special Ability: The Redeemer – The Deathslinger has a gun called Redeemer that has been modified to hunt survivors. Spears are shot on a chain. By pressing the “Power” button (right-click on PC), he aims and fires with the attack button. If a survivor is hit, he is connected to the killer via the chain.
Survivors on the chain can be slowly pulled towards the Deathslinger by pressing the “Power” button again.
It is important to know that the chain has a certain amount of durability – both the survivor and the killer can see this durability.
The durability is reduced when:
- The killer pulls the survivor closer to him
- The survivor resists the grip of the chain by moving
- Objects or other survivors run “through the chain”
If the durability of the chain is completely used up, the survivor is released, and the Deathslinger is stunned for a few seconds and forced to look at the ground. However, the survivor suffers the status “Deep Wounds”.
The Deathslinger can destroy the chain prematurely with a melee attack to avoid this stun.
If you have drawn a survivor close to you, you can hit them with a melee attack. They will then receive the debuff “Deep Wounds” and will need to heal soon. If the survivor is already injured, they will go down.
The Redeemer must be manually reloaded after each shot – whether you hit or miss. Reloading takes some time and slows down the killer during this process.
How to use the Redeemer correctly? Proper application of the Redeemer is essential for success with the Deathbringer. Follow these tips and tricks to quickly put an end to the survivor:
- Always reload the Redeemer immediately. If you forget, you will bitterly regret it during the next chase.
- You can hit survivors through a window with the Redeemer and pull them toward the window to hit them – the hit goes through the window.
- Destroy the Redeemer’s chain just before it would break. This way, you avoid the stun and may be able to pursue on foot.
- If you want to pull the survivor “towards you”, you should not move in their direction. Stand still and pull the survivor, otherwise they will stay in their position and only you will get closer.
- The Redeemer can be fired over many obstacles – but not over all. It takes practice, so try it out on different maps.
- Aim for the survivor’s torso, not their head. There are no “headshots” in Dead by Daylight, and this will only increase the chance that you will miss.
Who is the Deathbringer suitable for? The Deathbringer is a blessing for all players who already have a bit of shooter experience and want to find their way into the world of Dead by Daylight. However, it is also worthwhile for DbD veterans who want to experience a unique, new gameplay feel. The playstyle of the Deathbringer is very different from that of other killers and finally gives a sense of power back.
