In Elden Ring players are not only busy exploring the gigantic world, but also with the various endings that can be experienced. Therefore, we show you in this overview which ones exist, how to obtain them and what significance they have for the Lands Between.
How many endings are there? There are a total of six obtainable endings in Elden Ring. You can trigger them through quests and various items, which do require some effort. However, we warn you, if you want to discover all endings on your own, you might want to stop reading now, as we explain how to trigger these endings.
All 6 endings explained and how to obtain them
What endings exist? In total, you can achieve the following six endings:
- Age of Fracture
- Age of Dusk
- Blessing of Despair
- Age of Order
- Lord of the Frenzied Flame
- Age of Stars

Age of Fracture
How to obtain the ending? To achieve the Age of Fracture, you must play the game without any influence from certain NPCs like the Three Fingers, the Dung Eater or Fia. This completion counts as a general ending and is required for a trophy.
What does the ending mean? You have proven yourself worthy, burned the great Erdtree and reassembled the Elden Ring. You are now the new Elden Lord and rule over the Lands Between.
Age of Dusk
How to obtain the ending? To achieve this ending, you need to complete Fia’s quest. Through this, you will receive the key item “Death Prince’s Rune”. With this rune, you are able to reassemble the broken Elden Ring and restore order. To trigger this ending, choose the option “Use Death Prince’s Rune” at the Erdtree.
What does the ending mean? The gods and demigods in the Lands Between lived without the consequence of death. Malekith, the Black Blade, alone had the power to decide over death, as he had bound the Rune of Death to his sword.
Now that your Tarnished embedded the Death Prince’s Rune into the Elden Ring, a natural cycle of life and death is created, making every being mortal. One might think this is a neutral ending.
Blessing of Despair
How to obtain the ending? You need to complete the Dung Eater’s quest and give him the items “Seedbed Curse”. These are scattered throughout the Lands Between and must be given to the Dung Eater, below the capital Leyndell. Once you have given all the curses, you will receive the key item “Rune of the Cursed Curse.” With this, you can again reassemble the Elden Ring.
What does the ending mean? You infect the Elden Ring with the curse that the Dung Eater had to live with, ensuring that every being incurs this curse. Every human, god, and other beings in the Lands Between become deformed and live a regrettable existence. This ending is seen as one of the worse ones.
Age of Order
How to obtain the ending? To achieve this ending, you need to complete the Quest of the Golden Mask and Brother Corhyn. Upon completing the quest, you will receive the Rune of Perfect Order, which you can use at the great Erdtree.
What does the ending mean? After a pilgrimage of the Golden Mask, he realized that humanity in the Lands Between can only find order and peace by severing the influence of the gods. Thus, he created the Rune of Perfect Order to exclude the gods from the Lands Between during the restoration of the Elden Ring. This makes a peaceful life without chaos possible. This ending is considered one of the good ones.
Lord of the Frenzied Flame
How to obtain the ending? To achieve the ending, you need to come into contact with the Three Fingers. Below the city of Leyndell is a hand with three fingers. If you open the stone doors of its tomb, you will be embraced by it and infected with “Madness”. If you take this step, you will be locked out of all other endings. What does the ending mean? You succumb to the god of madness and envelop everything in his flames. Every being will be doomed to destruction. If Melina is still alive, she will swear revenge on you and will not rest until you are dead. This is truly a bad ending.
Age of Stars
How to obtain the ending? To achieve this ending, you need to complete Ranni’s quest and summon her at the Erdtree. She will take care of the rest and usher in the Age of Stars. This ending is important for a trophy.
What does the ending mean? In this ending, we help Ranni rise as a goddess. Instead of the Erdtree, the full moon becomes the center of the Lands Between. Additionally, the protagonist disappears with her and becomes her husband. Whether this is a good ending can be debated. Ranni has achieved her goals, but whether she was just a pawn of another deity remains unexcluded.
Many endings and yet you have to decide what happens to the Lands Between and its inhabitants. But don’t worry, your choice is not final, because during a new run of the story you have the chance to try out the other endings.
