Cheaters and hackers are bothersome individuals in every game. A pro player was taken down by such a fiend in Apex Legends, but decided to watch him for a while. The course of the match became quite bizarre towards the end.
This is shown by the fight: The Twitch streamer and Apex pro Mendokusaii, who transitioned from the Overwatch League to Apex Legends, recorded a bizarre match in one of his streams.
While he was in a ranked game with his teammates, an aimbot user took him out of the game. But instead of leaving, Mendo wanted to see how the hacker actually does it.
Towards the end of the match and after a few more kills from the hacker, his team met another squad in the top 6. This squad also had a hacker using a so-called speed hack. See the clip here:
A speed hack causes a character to move extremely fast. An aimbot locks the crosshair and hit directly onto an opponent, usually on their head. In the clip, it’s shown that the speed hacker tries to escape, but eventually succumbs to the aimbot. This clearly shows: the aimbot is the stronger (and more bothersome) hack.
Hackers in Apex Legends
What’s the problem? What Mendo actually wanted to show with the clip is that Apex Legends has increasingly serious problems with hackers. He himself plays at Diamond elo, the second highest rank in Apex Legends.
The fact that there are so many hackers around here is evidently a bigger problem and one that has existed for a while. Shortly after release, well-known streamers like DrDisrespect warned that Apex has a hacker problem.
What is being done? The developers keep coming up with new technology to fight hackers in Apex Legends. A reporting feature has been introduced and there have been several ban waves.
This has gone so far that cheaters have partly complained about unfair treatment. Apparently, that has not been enough to completely rid themselves of the unfair players.
The general problem with hackers and cheaters: Apex Legends is not the only game where hackers are a problem. Almost every online game is plagued by these players, especially shooters. This often leads to strange situations:
- In Titanfall 1, a single hacker terrorizes the last players
- The sellers of hacks and cheats often brag about their earnings
- In contrast, a hacker in CoD: Modern Warfare even receives praise from players for their kills
