Two classes might soon face changes in World of Warcraft. Because they were far too strong in the current raid.
In World of Warcraft, the race for the World First Kill of King Gallywix was concluded a few days ago. After Team Liquid, Echo and Method have also managed to defeat the final boss. But after the good mood comes the anxiety of some classes. Because the professionals have made particularly strong use of certain specializations – and this is a clear indication that strong nerfs might be on the way. Especially monks and mages are now feeling the pressure.
Which classes are affected? Looking at the kills of the major professional guilds, it is noticeable that some specializations are particularly prevalent. Among healers, it is the Mistweaver monks, while among DPS characters, Windwalker monks and Fire mages were extremely present. The community has also noticed this, and they are already poking fun with memes that these specializations will likely receive significant nerfs in one of the upcoming maintenance sessions.
What indicates their strength? The fact that these classes have left most others behind can especially be seen in the large number of specific specializations that the professional guilds have brought along. Team Liquid, the winners of the “World First Race,” had 2 Mistweaver monks as healers, 3 Windwalker monks as melee fighters, and even 4 Fire mages as ranged damage dealers. Almost half of the raid consisted of just 3 specializations – even though there are 36 of them in World of Warcraft.

Are nerfs coming now? In the past, Blizzard has quickly implemented nerfs after the “World First” race concluded, and this could happen again this time. However, in more recent times, Blizzard has tended to strengthen the other classes a bit rather than weaken the best classes. Only in cases of massive outliers do adjustments downwards occur.
However, the community is greatly amused by the current situation and the memes. And especially Windwalker monks are a bit anxious now, because some time ago it looked like monks were at risk of extinction – if they face a harsh nerf now, that might soon be the case again.
