In Pokémon GO the new season “Hidden Gems” has begun and a number of new events have been announced. One of these excites our author so much that she even cancels her birthday party for it. Which one it is and why she doesn’t want to miss it, you can read here on MeinMMO.
Which event are we talking about? In the coming weeks, a lot is happening in Pokémon GO again. From powerful raid bosses to cool spotlight hours and special themed events, there is something suitable for every trainer.
One of these events has particularly caught my attention: The Community Day in June with Milza. But exactly on this day I actually had other plans than to play Pokémon GO. What I had actually planned and why I ultimately decided on the mobile game, I will explain to you below.
I would rather catch Milza than celebrate my birthday
What struggle do I have with the C-Day? One of the highlights in Pokémon GO are the monthly Community Days. During these, a specific monster is highlighted for a period of 3 hours, and the corresponding Shiny chance is increased.
Depending on which monster it is for the respective Community Day, it usually suffices for me to catch a few of them to secure at least one or two shiny specimens. However, for June, the developers have chosen a very special event Pokémon for the format: Milza.
The date could not be worse from my point of view, because the Community Day collides exactly with my planned birthday party. But that is no reason for me to miss out on the dragon Pokémon.
Why do I absolutely want to secure Milza?
While most other trainers would probably skip the three-hour event and rather celebrate their birthday with their families, I decided to play Pokémon GO on this day. Instead of coffee and cake with family, I will be diligently throwing balls. And I have a clear mission. What that is, I have summarized for you below:
My first Shiny-Milza: Even though Shiny-Milza has been catchable in the game for a good year and I completed countless raids at GO Fest 2022 to finally secure it, I was unfortunately not lucky so far.
But with the Community Day in June, my moment has finally come. And it doesn’t matter to me that the Shiny rate is particularly increased that day, and I will therefore be one of many who will finally call a Shiny-Milza their own.
Instead, I am looking forward to finally evolving my Shiny-Milza into Maxax. I really like the last evolution in the shiny variant with its black body and red horns.
Catching perfect Milza: Besides a Shiny-Milza, I hope on this day for a perfect specimen, one that has an IV of 100%. Even though Milza itself is not particularly strong and therefore has little use in the GO Battle League and raids, the situation is completely different with its final evolution Maxax.
The monster can score with an enormous attack value and also has solid defense and stamina values. For this reason, it is among one of the best attackers in Pokémon GO. Therefore, it absolutely must not be missing from my collection.

Farming candies: The Community Day is also a good opportunity to farm candies. The dragon Pokémon from the 5th game generation belongs to the monsters in the game that can only be rarely encountered outside of certain events.
Due to this rarity, it is usually a small challenge to collect enough Milza candies. Through GO Fest 2022, I was able to significantly replenish my supply, but there is still room for improvement.
All the better that you can not only encounter the little dragon at every corner during the Community Day, but the event also brings double candies when catching. And the chance for XL candies will also be increased again. Therefore, I will not miss this opportunity and will try to collect the required 296 XL candies for a Maxax power-up to level 50.
With the reduced trade costs up to 5 hours after the event and the guaranteed XL candy that will be available during the current season “Hidden Gems”, my husband and I will trade the caught monsters after the C-Day and thus collect a few additional candies. Maybe a strong lucky Milza will come out of it.
If I achieve all three of my set goals, it would be a really cool birthday present for myself. Whether this will happen remains to be seen.
