The production of The Primevals began in the early 1970s. After about 50 years, the fantasy and sci-fi film has now been completed. A first trailer has already been released.
After decades, a fantasy film with stop-motion elements, full of mystical creatures, will soon be released with The Primevals.
The father of the film project was David Allen, a well-known animator in the field of stop-motion and special effects. He worked on well-known projects such as The Howling, Twilight Zone: The Movie, or Young Sherlock Holmes.
Here you can see the trailer for The Primevals:
The Primevals should make David Allen’s dream come true
At the end of the 1960s and the beginning of the 1970s, the animator started his absolute dream project and wanted to incorporate all the elements that he found exciting from the science fiction and fantasy realms.
In 1994, Charles Band, the founder of Full Moon, and David Allen worked together on the ambitious film idea that would become the studio’s largest project to date.
The scenes with the real cast were filmed in Romania and the Alps. After that, a long post-production was planned in which Allen wanted to incorporate numerous special effects.
However, David Allen fell ill and eventually passed away in 1999.
The Primevals was on hold for a long time, and fans wondered if they would ever get to see the finished result. But then Chris Endicott teamed up with Charles Band to complete his mentor’s final project.
The film is intended to be a tribute to the late animator, fulfilling “the unique vision and life dream of David Allen” (via indiegogo.com).
What is Primevals about? In the fantasy film, a group of researchers embarks on an expedition to find a yeti. Along the way, they encounter a civilization of reptilian people who do not seem particularly favorable to humans.
