In Pokémon GO you can earn Level 50 for 3 years. We at MeinMMO wanted to know from you whether you have already reached the maximum level. We have summarized the results for you below.
Which level is it about? A goal for many players in Pokémon GO is to reach the maximum level. This was at Level 40 until the end of 2020 and was then raised to Level 50. We wanted to know from you whether you have already achieved it. How you voted will be shown to you below.
So many of you are already Level 50
This is how you voted: Discussions about Level 50 and the difficulty of the tasks on the way there are often held on social networks. For this reason, we wanted to know in our survey from September 20, 2023: Have you already reached Level 50 in Pokémon GO?
Up until today (as of September 28, 2023 at 12:15 PM), a total of 1,981 readers from MeinMMO voted as follows:
- 74 % (1,464 votes) for
No
- 26 % (517 votes) for
Yes
This means that just a little more than a quarter of the participants are Level 50. The majority are still at one of the other levels.
What are the reasons for that? In the comments under our survey on MeinMMO and in our Pokémon GO Facebook group, numerous trainers have spoken up and revealed which levels they are currently in. Some of them stated that they want to take it easy and therefore take their time.
But the tasks for Level 50 are also a recurring topic in the comments. Especially the challenges around the GO Battle League are a pain for many trainers. And the quests related to Team GO Rocket and the lucky trades are keeping players on their way to the maximum level. You can find the following comments about it:
- AndyHer commented on MeinMMO:
I am Level 43. I will want to continue to level up. As a solo player, it ends at Level 50 with lucky trades and place 10 of the GO Battle League. I don’t enjoy these battles. I will still do the ones for Level 44 or 45.

Ach Nee
is taking it easy, as he reports on MeinMMO:Level 44. I have been playing since January 2020 […]. I don’t force anything and take things as they come. In my current friend list, I see a person who is “stuck” at Level 41 with 167 million XP – so there are people who play even more relaxed. The only thing I’m actually “worried” about is the max level of 3 Pokémon.

writes on MeinMMO:I am now Level 46 and have just half of the XP for Level 50. I hardly did any raids for a long time. As a casual player, I don’t like the GO League and I’m not interested in networking. You also have to grind more. No desire. It doesn’t really bring anything. At Level 40, you’ve seen everything gameplay-wise.
- Stephan D. explains on Facebook:
Level 48 and I’m stuck on lucky trades…
- Jessica M. is struggling with Team Rocket, as she reveals on Facebook:
No, because I can’t defeat the Rocket bosses.
Up to Level 40, you only need to collect a lot of experience points for leveling up. What additional tasks you have to solve afterwards can be seen in the following post:
First trainers are eagerly awaiting new levels
While a large part of the players is still on the way to Level 50 and dealing with the numerous tasks, some players can hardly wait for the maximum level to be raised again.
Some of them have already reached Level 50 in 2021 and are still diligently collecting XP. They hope that the maximum level will soon rise to Level 60. But even players who have not yet reached the highest level would like more content. They write in the comments in our Facebook group in response to our question:
- Matthias G.:
Yes, I am, and I am diligently collecting the [experience] points.
- Sebastian K.:
A long time now. I think it’s time to raise the level to 60.
- Ronny W.:
Not yet, but close. Only 2.5 million XP left. Should be doable by the beginning of October. It would be cool if there were higher levels starting next year.
Whether new levels will indeed be introduced in Pokémon GO soon remains to be seen. If there is any further information, you will find out on MeinMMO.
What is the importance of the level? The trainer level is fundamentally only crucial up to a maximum of Level 40, as this also depends on the level of your monsters. The higher your own level, the more you can level up your monsters. This is important when you want to use your Pokémon for battles.
In addition, from Level 31, you can collect corresponding XL candies to bring your monsters to Level 50. To secure such Pokémon in your collection, you do not necessarily have to reach Level 50 first. From Level 41, you benefit particularly from new features, such as the routes function, as these are often rolled out to these players first.
Are you also one of the trainers who have already reached Level 50? Do you wish for more levels? Or do you approach it more relaxed? Feel free to write it to us in the comments and exchange ideas with other trainers about it.
A trainer goes from Level 43 to 44 without catching a single Pokémon. We show how he did it.
