A new zombie game on Steam promises a gigantic open world with up to 5,000 players per server. And that on an area covering half of Saarland.
Which game is being talked about? This refers to CrisisX, a new survival game from developer HK Hero based in Hong Kong. The game was announced on August 15 with a gameplay trailer.

Huge open world with up to 5,000 players
The developers promise big: CrisisX is set to become an MMO where you – similar to DayZ – survive the zombie apocalypse (though they are called “mutants” here). The open world and the number of players per server are significantly larger than fans of DayZ are used to.
- The game world of CrisisX is said to be 1,200 km² large. For comparison: The Badlands from DayZ, the largest map of the game so far, cover “only” 267 km².
- The open world of the zombie game has about half the area of the entire Saarland, which is around 2,570 km² large.
- Up to 5,000 players are supposed to fit on a server in CrisisX. In DayZ, the limit is currently 60 players.
The game world is expected to be divided into 12 biomes, ranging “from deserts to forests to icy mountains”. You hunt animals and gather resources to survive and build your own base. This also offers you some protection from the mutants.
Roaming “Titan mutants” are much larger and more dangerous than the rest. One of them is already visible in the trailer. They are said to require a coordinated team with strong weapons. Additionally, mutants are supposed to move in hordes. More information about the game is expected at the gamescom 2025.
