A guild from World of Warcraft celebrated its 20th anniversary a few days ago. What makes this community special: They continue to organize raid nights week after week even after all this time to conquer the current boss challenges.
What kind of guild is it? The “Forgotten Prophets” from the US server Dalaran (originally founded on Skullcrusher) celebrated its 20th anniversary a few days ago. The guild was founded on April 3, 2005. Over 200 accounts and 812 characters can be found on the current member list.
Not everyone is active today, of course. But still enough to organize raid nights week after week and to work on their own “progress.” A photo on Reddit shows the Forgotten Prophets during their anniversary raid on King Gallywix from the current raid “Liberation of Lorenhall.”
The trailer for the current WoW patch 11.1:
A community for life
How does the community react to this? With over 1,100 upvotes and many positive comments. Many players find it remarkable that a WoW guild can be active for such a long period. Some express a bit of envy, as it is extremely difficult to find such a community for themselves.
- KreivosNightshade writes on Reddit: “Congratulations! I have always wanted to be part of this kind of long-term guild.”
- Velocitycurve21 still remembers the guild (via Reddit): “What a blast from the past. An original guild from Skullcrusher.”
- ZenZulu writes on Reddit: “This is crazy. Sometimes I still think about the people (whom I didn’t know in real life) I played with in guilds back in 2005 and a few years after. I wonder where most of them ended up and if they still play.”
- Pachinginator explains on Reddit: “It’s pretty amazing that your guild survived Battle for Azeroth and Shadowlands. I’ve seen so many guilds explode in the first few tiers of BfA and SL that were there from the start. You must have a really stable group. Keep it up!”
- adventthragg celebrates on Reddit: “Oh man. I am envious. This is fantastic!”
Considering how quickly a guild can expire due to egos or constantly changing life circumstances, what the “Forgotten Prophets” have built is truly something special. Another WoW player, who had to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his guild (almost) alone, was not as fortunate.
