World of Warcraft Classic has a warlock that you can never match. Because his demon is remarkably special.
In MMORPGs like World of Warcraft, there is the allure of being someone truly special. Whether you have a reputation as the best tank, the meanest PvP ganker, or the friendliest mage on your own realm – there is some uniqueness one desires. One way is to adorn oneself with very special gear that is extremely rare.
Exactly that is what a warlock has done – but with his demon, the Felguard. Because it wields a weapon that tens of thousands of warriors and paladins envy.
What has the warlock done? In the WoW subreddit, the player “Ill_Draw_3840” shared a screenshot of his gnome warlock and her Felguard. In the hands of the Felguard – the epic weapon “Corrupted Ashbringer”.
With the simple description: “I love it when a plan comes together.”
Why is this special? The “Corrupted Ashbringer” is a particularly rare weapon that could be obtained in the original Naxxramas. However, this version of Naxxramas was only available until the launch of “Wrath of the Lich King” – after which Naxxramas became a new raid in Northrend, and the old necropolis was no longer accessible.
In the “new” Naxxramas, however, this weapon was no longer available.
The coolest weapon a demon can wield
How does that work? Normally, summoned Felguards wield a generic weapon. But thanks to a glyph introduced with “Mists of Pandaria”, the Felguard can also use a two-handed weapon from the warlock’s inventory – like the Corrupted Ashbringer.
The community especially praises the foresight of the warlock. Because to actually be able to hand the weapon to the Felguard at some point, the player had to plan several years in advance. He had to find a group during the time of “The Burning Crusade” that would venture into Classic Naxxramas and also win the already rare weapon. The image is celebrated accordingly in the comments:
- “I’ve been waiting for this post since this incident happened. Thank you for thinking years ahead and sharing this screenshot. […]” – MiddleAd5302
- “Felguard with Corrupted Ashbringer just looks f***ing good.” – the_borscht
- “That just looks strong. I think from now on you’re the Felguard’s slave.” – Gibbsbeard
Can you get that in retail, too? No, that is not possible. The Corrupted Ashbringer is one of the very few weapons that cannot be obtained in the modern version of World of Warcraft.
You cannot obtain it in the new old version of Naxxramas that was made accessible not long ago, nor does this weapon appear on the dark market auction house. Therefore, currently, no warlock is known to have a Felguard equipped with it in retail. Because when the Ashbringer could be obtained in retail, it was not foreseeable that warlocks would ever have a use for it.
An actual benefit of the weapon in the demon’s hands is, by the way, none, as it does not enhance him or grant any effects. Of course, apart from the “+100 Style” – and this is something that no one can take away from this warlock anytime soon. However, the player will now also have to endure the frustrated whisper messages from paladins and warriors who never obtained this weapon because some warlock discarded it…
Such little tricks and tips are also an advantage when you’ve been playing the same MMORPG for over 20 years…
