What kind of game is this? In Sons of the Forest, you can expect survival horror from the indie developer Endnight Games, the creators of The Forest. On an island populated by cannibals and mutants, you fight for survival while searching for a missing person.
Sons of the Forest launched in Early Access on February 23, 2023, and had already generated a lot of hype before. The rush for the game was so great that even the Steam servers went down at release. A year later, the full release followed.

What is the game about? Much like in The Forest, you crash on a remote island. This time, however, you are not an ordinary family man, but a member of a special operations team. Your mission: to track down a missing billionaire.
The island where your target is located is inhabited by terrifying cannibals and repulsive mutants. They are divided into factions that behave differently. Initially, most of them will just stare at you menacingly, but later they will also attack you.
To protect yourself from the dangers of the island, you craft or find various weapons, including bows, spears, or a katana. However, the best protection is good defense: Behind a wall of protection and traps, you will feel much safer.
Sons of the Forest heavily relies on “environmental storytelling”: You piece together the story based on the things you find in your surroundings. Whether and when you follow the story is up to you, thanks to the open world.

Does the game offer co-op? Yes, if you want, you can play Sons of the Forest with up to 8 players. However, you are also not alone as a solo player, as you have an NPC companion named Kelvin available right from the start, who can perform tasks like gathering wood or stones for you.
Later, you can befriend a shy mutant lady who will also assist you in battles.
How much does the game cost? Sons of the Forest normally costs €28.99. However, as part of the winter sale on Steam, there is a 50% discount – so you only pay €14.49. According to most players, it’s worth it: Overall, the game has a 87% positive rating, and the recent ones are even better.
