A player has completed Dark Souls 3 in a way that really shouldn’t be possible. He completely avoided a central mechanic – collecting souls.
What did this player do? He completed Dark Souls 3 from 2016 without collecting a single soul. That should actually be impossible:
- You defeat an enemy in battle? You’ll get souls for that
- You defeat a boss? Tons of souls, directly credited to your account
- An enemy dies while you’re nearby? You’ll be granted souls for that too
This isn’t just about not using souls. That’s already not easy, but relatively easier than not collecting them at all. Because souls are automatically credited to you as soon as you defeat an enemy. You can’t just leave them lying around.
Although this challenge seems impossible, one player dared to do it. He uploaded a video about it on YouTube.

What is the biggest challenge? The biggest problem is the bosses. You can run past ordinary enemies, but many of the bosses you have to defeat. So how do you avoid collecting their souls?
It’s not enough to teleport out of the arena with the Darksign as soon as the boss is defeated. You will simply receive the souls when you awaken at the bonfire. Your character has to die to permanently lose those souls. It must happen quickly enough so you don’t receive them beforehand.
- Fortunately, there is a suitable cliff to jump off at Iudex Gundyr, the first boss. Later, the player uses a special weapon.
- In Dark Souls 3, there is a katana called “Bloodlust”. This has the special ability to inflict damage on you in exchange for improved damage.
Further challenges arise from the numerous situations in Dark Souls 3 where your enemies attack each other. This includes the dragon on the high wall of Lothric and the Darkwraiths that take down some Ghru on the way to the Abyss Watchers.
A player achieves the seemingly impossible
Despite all the obstacles, he ultimately succeeded in completing the game without collecting a single soul.
