Anyone who wants to test their castle defense against ever larger hordes of enemies will likely find great joy with Diplomacy is Not an Option on Steam. The strategy game has recently left Early Access.
Which game is it about? In Diplomacy is Not an Option, you are the governor of a powerful king. However, you have to deal with his poor decisions, such as heavy tax increases: rebels storm your castle, and you must prevent them from looting your treasury.
To defend yourself, you not only need to recruit catapults and knights, but you also require an active economy to repair your walls, to ensure that soldiers on the battlefield do not starve, and for resources to construct new buildings.
However, the enemy is also prepared to fight back, sending you waves of enemy hordes mercilessly.
Here you can watch the trailer for the release of Diplomacy is Not an Option:
More and more enemies until the map is full
How does the game proceed? While you have laid the first foundations of your economy and defense, the opponent already tests you with a small group of enemies that you need to fend off. The longer you play, the more enemies there will be.
The developers state on Steam that later there will be over 25,000 enemies opposing you. For your castle and your beloved ruler to survive, you need not only high stone walls but also magic.
After a while, there are so many enemies that almost the entire map is filled with foes. The waves of enemy hordes come so quickly that you are not even finished with the last wave before the next one rolls in. From then on, it becomes really critical.
Thanks to mages, you can eliminate a multitude of enemies with powerful spells, for example, with meteors or a laser from space. You have the monopoly on magic, so you don’t have to worry about the rabble suddenly threatening your throne with fireballs.
How long does a round last? Diplomacy is Not an Option has recently left Early Access on Steam and is currently on sale. With the full release of the game, the campaign is now complete, where you can fight through various scenarios.
There is also a sandbox mode and an endless mode on procedurally generated maps in the game now. Our MeinMMO strategy expert Schuhmann also recently tested a new strategy game on Steam but he wasn’t really satisfied: I spent 40 hours in 3 days with the new strategy game on Steam – But I can’t recommend it to anyone
