Capcom has introduced a new installment in the popular “Monster Hunter” series: Monster Hunter Rise. This will be the next installment after the current Monster Hunter World and is set to release in March 2021. We will show you what to expect in the new action RPG.
This is the new Monster Hunter: Today, on September 17, 2020, developer Capcom announced Monster Hunter Rise. The new trailer embedded below showcases some of the upcoming features:
- a type of grappling hook that works in the vastness and propels you forward
- dogs that you can ride and that can climb steep walls
- new weapons and monsters like the fire-breathing bird Aknosom, the hefty crocodile Tetranodon, and the eerie Magnamalo
As already seen in the video and mentioned in the description, Monster Hunter Rise will be a co-op game where you can hunt together with other players and friends. This feature has already made Monster Hunter World one of the best co-op games on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
When and where will Monster Hunter Rise be released? The release is on March 26, 2021, on the Nintendo Switch. According to current information, it will also be released exclusively there.
This comes just under six months after the last update of Monster Hunter World on October 1. With this update, World is supposed to come to an end and receive its final content.
Players are excited – and confused
Although many players are excited about the announcement, some are rather confused, partly even outraged or upset that Monster Hunter Rise will only come to the Switch. Many hope for a port to other platforms but do not doubt that Rise will still be a success.
For example, user Aiir_Normals on Twitter:
Switch Only is annoying. Monster Hunter World revived the fanbase, so making this game Switch Only is a mistake. But it will still sell millions because millions own a Switch. Unfortunately, it won’t look like a mistake.
Especially with regards to the upcoming next-gen consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, many players might be upset that the new Monster Hunter is only being released for the Nintendo Switch. On the other hand, MH World did not release on the Switch, which some players perceive as balancing justice. It is unknown when there will be another Monster Hunter for the other platforms.
