Diligence must be rewarded – That was also the thought of the mother of a fan of Elden Ring. She wanted to buy him the DLC, even though she has to save money herself. On Reddit, her story received a lot of positive feedback.
What was the mother planning? As Reddit user SabrinaSpellman1 writes in a post in the Elden Ring subreddit, she has a son who loves the game very much.
The main game brought him a lot of joy and made his daily life better. Because he doesn’t have it easy. In school, he doesn’t receive the support he needs as an autistic student. Nevertheless, he bravely gets through and “rocks” everyday life.
This must be rewarded, which is why the mother wants to buy her son the DLC Shadow of the Erdtree. However, she writes that they are currently going through a financially difficult time. That is why she has recently been saving to afford the purchase.
Even though money is tight, the mother wants to bring joy to her son. She writes:
“I can’t wait to see his face! I hope it lives up to the hype because he enjoyed Elden Ring so much.”
She is the proudest mom of all time. But the story doesn’t end there. The Reddit community wanted to help, especially in one regard.
The DLC has launched – If you still don’t know how to access it, you can find a guide on MeinMMO.
A Lovable Offer
What happened next? In an edit to her original post, the mother shares that two users reached out to her. They offered to cover the costs of the DLC.
The post had made her smile and given her a good feeling – and they wanted to give back for that. Considering the mother’s financial situation, that would have certainly been a help, but she declined the offer.
She saved the money and is happy to now use it for a gift for her son. Nevertheless, she expresses her heartfelt gratitude to the community and says that all the kind messages have made her very happy.
What do the users say? Under the post, over 200 comments from users have gathered. While many simply find the story beautiful and thank her for sharing, others praise the good deed of the mother.
“As an adult autistic person who did not receive the support I needed, it makes me very happy to see that parents do not shy away from their child for this reason,” writes the user Difficult-Most-4159.
“Forget Game of the Year. We have MOTHER OF THE YEAR right here!,” says Janostar213.
“When he’s old enough to use Reddit and enjoys chatting online, tell him he can share his thoughts and character here and discuss the game with us,” suggests pororoca_surfer.
Meanwhile, the DLC has been released and the gifted son is probably already exploring the shadow land himself. All this because of his mother, who has an open ear for his passion and rewarded his struggles in life at the right moment. We can only hope that he will be just as excited about the DLC as the numerous positive reviews from players on Steam.
