From testing a car feature to multiple violations of the law
What exactly did the man want to test? The Tesla Cybertruck has a “Wade Mode.” This is a feature that, according to the manufacturer, allows you to drive through rivers and streams. Tesla states on its website: “In Wade Mode, the Cybertruck can enter and cross bodies of water like rivers or streams.”
This is exactly the feature the owner of the Cybertruck wanted to test. However, he probably overlooked that the Wade Mode is only suitable for certain water depths, namely up to a maximum of 81.5 centimeters. Tesla also expressly warns against traversing bodies of water that exceed the specified limit. However, the chosen lake was likely much deeper.
Accordingly, the test also failed: According to authorities, the Cybertruck malfunctioned and took on water, after which the driver and a passenger left the vehicle. The vehicle was recovered with the help of the fire department’s water rescue team.
How does this situation end? The police, according to the magazine CBS.com, stated that the driver would be charged with operating a vehicle in a prohibited area of the lake, lacking a valid boat registration, and further violations of water safety regulations.
