A dealer has sparked some discussions in the GTA community, as he openly revealed a release date for the highly anticipated action game.
What was this “leak” about? Last week, the Uruguayan dealer “XUruguay” listed September 17 as the release date for GTA 6 on his website. Shortly after, there were various posts on social networks.
Some fans picked up the information and were convinced: the release date for GTA 6 was leaked (via X). Others doubted the accuracy and pointed out that developers Rockstar Games would not share such a secret piece of information with any online stores. Overall, there was excitement and discussions triggered by the mentioned release date.
In the meantime, the dealer has also commented on the discussion and apologized in a statement, explaining what the date actually is (via XUruguay).
The “leak” was just a misunderstanding
What is behind the “leak”? As many GTA fans correctly pointed out on social networks, this is simply the release date of GTA V. As the dealer explains in the statement, the release date shown is not a leak. It was merely an internal joke that escalated.
A new employee had read the release date of GTA to the dealer’s team on Google – but that was the release date of GTA V and not GTA 6. Then, a team member jokingly responded that he should enter the date on the website.
However, the joke was apparently not taken as such, and so September 17 ended up as the release date of GTA 6 on the dealer’s website.
What is known about the release of GTA 6? Currently not much. So far, the action game is supposed to release in 2025, but there is no exact date, and some industry experts suspect that the release will be pushed back to 2026.
It is also not known when we will receive a second trailer for GTA 6 that provides new information.
