The world of Elden Ring is full of secrets that are gradually being uncovered. Players have now discovered another mechanic – and it’s currently exciting the community.
In Elden Ring, you can summon various spirits using Ashes to aid you in combat. All you need is a summoning bell – and the corresponding Ash.
And one of these spirits is currently causing excitement in the community.
Attention: From here on, you will find light spoilers about a side quest in Elden Ring.
Player discovers hidden mechanic with spirit
This is the spirit in question: At the cabin of the slumbering wolf, you meet an NPC named Latenna. We don’t want to go into too much detail to avoid spoilers, but the archer has a very close bond with wolves, especially with her deceased wolf companion.
During the quest, you receive Latenna’s spirit Ash, who willingly joins you. You can now summon her in battles.
What makes this special: Latenna actually has the ability to remain in place and attack enemies from a distance.
But Reddit user neoPie shows in a post that this is not always the case:
In a fight at the Caria manor, Latenna suddenly jumps up, dodges an enemy wolf attack, and begins attacking enemies with it.
By riding the giant wolf, Latenna becomes mobile and significantly intervenes in the fight – while still being subjected to some wolf attacks on the player.
In the end, Latenna is defeated along with her mount. However, the clip has sparked a lot of discussion on the Elden Ring subreddit.
This is how the community reacts: As of now, the post has received over 28,000 upvotes and more than 1,600 comments, getting a lot of attention.
The mechanic surprises some players, who are now considering what else could be discovered:
- “This is amazing, I wonder how many other secrets like this are in the game,” a user writes (via reddit).
- “I exclusively used her in my last playthrough (she is amazing and has helped me secure some crucial victories), and I had no idea she could do that. Her coolness factor just went up a few more levels,” writes user Fatal-plus (via reddit).
- “Damn, that’s quite a discovery,” is the current top comment (via reddit).
However, some players also emphasize that wolves of this size are only very limited in Elden Ring. Thus, this ability doesn’t bring an advantage everywhere – there are harsher examples, like the Mimic Tear.
Nonetheless, some players are now hoping to find more interactions like this. And it wouldn’t be surprising: After all, players continuously uncover secrets in the gigantic world of Elden Ring.
Like when a player hit a door countless times to find a secret path behind it.
