The hardcore online shooter Escape from Tarkov has received a major update that introduces some interesting new features. However, players have been facing issues since the update.
What kind of update is this? Version 0.12.5 of the Twitch hit Escape from Tarkov was released on April 27 and aims to address performance issues, bringing new features along and also introducing color adjustments. With this, the developers want to offer players options to customize the appearance of Escape from Tarkov according to their preferences without having to resort to third-party software.
In the past, this led to situations where the settings provided advantages, such as making dark areas brighter, allowing tool users to spot enemies faster.
Good changes, but players are still upset
What are the main changes? In addition to bug fixes and translation improvements, these adaptations to the game are especially important:
- Players reported that the performance of Escape from Tarkov lagged when looking through the scope. This has been fixed.
- You can now receive medical assistance directly after the raid and heal yourself.
- The AI of the Scav opponents has improved. They are now harder to defeat.
How is the update received? It can be read on Reddit that quite a few players have been facing some problems since the update. Crashes happen frequently, and players lose connection to the server. For some, the performance optimizations have not helped or have even worsened the situation.
- Nobbynub states on reddit: “After a few raids with the new patch, it feels like the stuttering is worse and desyncs are more frequent.”
- Siraznallot explains on reddit: “Now there are problems starting Tarkov and loading messages. It crashes and freezes the game. I can’t collect my insurance claims.”
- poTATEohhh writes on reddit: “Opening the messenger crashed my game instantly. I have ammunition sales worth about 4 million in my Ragman message that I can’t claim because the game freezes and crashes as soon as I click on Messenger.”
Not everyone views the update negatively. Particularly, the improved AI of the opponents is well received, as the fights against the Scavs are now significantly more challenging. Additionally, players praise the medical assistance at the end of a raid.
- Hapayvy on reddit mentions about the improved AI: “Scavs are now more aggressive and aim more accurately. I barely managed to take one down, and I usually take them out quickly. But before the Scav died, he completely confounded me. And in the same raid, another Scav rushed me and nearly defeated me. That has never happened to me before.”
- Ikuorai sees things on reddit not quite so negatively: “The medical after-raid system that explains how you died is EXCELLENT.”
