In Call of Duty: Warzone is sniping a great art. We present to you a guide with a strong sniper setup and give tips on how to become a strong killer from a distance.
This is what it’s about: Sniping is a significant challenge in any shooter. In the Battle Royale Warzone, you can gain strong advantages and eliminate opponents before they even notice you properly.
Based on the video by YouTuber Stodeh, we show you 8 tips on how to become a better sniper. Here’s the complete video:
The Best Loadout as a Sniper
Use this weapon: Stodeh recommends in his video the HDR rifle. He says that this weapon is better than the AX50. The HDR has the following advantages:
- Faster bullet speed
- Lower bullet drop
- Better power at range
Both weapons deal the same damage otherwise. The only advantage of the AX50 is its slightly higher fire rate.
Here’s how the weapon should be equipped: In the video, Stodeh shows his HDR in the Gunsmith. He says it is designed for maximum bullet speed:
- Muzzle: Suppressor (Monolith)
- Barrel: 26.9″ HDR Pro
- Laser: Tactical Laser
- Stock: FTAC Stalker-Scout
- Perk: Fully Loaded
This setup has several advantages. He says:
- With the suppressor, you won’t be seen on the minimap and you’re much quieter
- The longest possible barrel promises maximum bullet speed and the best damage range
- A thermal scope is suitable for beginners because it helps to spot enemies behind bushes and in smoke – For experts, a optical scope is enough, as it allows for quicker aiming and thus offers slight advantages
- He recommends the “Fully Loaded” perk, which fully equips the weapon with sniper ammo
The differences between AX50 and HDR are quite small, however. After a secret change, even a DMR tops the list of strong sniper rifles.
What second weapon should one take? Here Stodeh says that you should always carry an assault rifle or SMG. He personally uses the AUG, which is considered the best weapon in Warzone with the 5.56 conversion kit.
These items should be taken: In addition to the weapons, a mine or claymore is important. This can protect you from enemies trying to sneak up on you.
Which perks should one take? In addition to the equipment, Stodeh packs the following perks:
- Cold-Blooded – Protects against alerts and thermal scopes
- Overkill – Allows you to carry a second primary weapon
- Eager – Faster weapon swap
With these tips, you will survive as a sniper
Never use the sniper rifle aggressively: If you don’t have a good spot to snipe from, you should always be moving with your second weapon. At short ranges, the sniper is usually at a clear disadvantage, and you have much better chances of survival with an assault rifle.
You can eliminate your opponent with a headshot, but if that shot doesn’t hit, it takes too long to fire again or switch weapons.
Don’t aim at a target for too long: The classic sniper usually lies down and looks through his scope, but that is exactly the wrong approach. You should only look through your sight briefly and then look away again. Always stay in motion and move slightly to the left and right. Only stand still when you’re actually about to shoot.
This has several advantages:
- Enemies won’t spot you immediately – As soon as you look through the sight, enemies see the reflection of your lens
- You have a much better view of your surroundings and can spot other enemies
- If you are in motion, then an enemy can hardly sneak up behind you
Try headshots in Warzone: Normally, headshots in shooters are the king discipline and hard to pull off at long distances. However, the bullet speed of the HDR is so fast that you can comfortably aim for a headshot. So aim for the head, and you will notice that you will definitely land a few hits.
This way, you can aim directly at the head of moving opponents. The opponent is often too slow to dodge the fast bullet. But pay attention to the enemy’s movement. With the right movements, you can navigate much safer through Warzone, making it harder for you to land hits.
You should take body shots when the enemy knows where you are. In such cases, it’s often a matter of seconds, and a body shot might be enough to disrupt your opponent.
But as long as the enemy doesn’t know you’re aiming at him, you can easily aim for the head. A special technique helps controller players to land secure hits with the sniper rifle: Drag-Scoping.
These places are perfect for snipers: Look for roof tops or rooms with few accesses. Ideally, the enemy should only be able to reach you through a single entrance.
You can then block this access with your claymores or mines. Either your opponent has to destroy these, which you will notice, or ideally they run right in, and you get a kill.
From rooftops, you often have a view in all directions and can eliminate enemies everywhere. But be careful not to stay in one spot for too long. Another sniper might have you in his sights.

Here’s how to move in the mountains: If you have a choice between a high mountain and a building, choose the building. In the mountains, enemies can come from all directions, and you are never truly protected.
An exception is when the gas wall is directly behind you. Then you automatically have your back protected.
However, if you are in the mountains, you should be especially careful. Look for a rock to hide behind. There, you can reload safely and peek left or right to attack.
Take as many shots as possible: Many shooters only shoot when they have their opponent perfectly in their sights. This is wrong, and you will achieve significantly fewer kills.
Take as many shots as you can, even if you can’t see your opponent through smoke or a bush. The shot may still hit and score.
There’s another advantage: The enemy knows you are watching him and will want to escape faster. While fleeing, you can often catch him easily, as many players then become careless and expose themselves more than before.
It’s only worth waiting to shoot when the enemy doesn’t know where you are. Take a moment, catch your breath, hold your operator’s breath, and take a precise shot at the enemy’s digital cap.
Attack every vehicle: If you see a passing vehicle, always try to attack it. In the worst-case scenario, you give away your position, but in the best case, you score kills and take out the potentially very powerful vehicles.
Use these skins: The choice of skin can be crucial as a sniper. Therefore, use skins that have dark tones. Characters that reveal skin or wear bright clothing stand out quickly as snipers.
The skin reminiscent of a Netflix star is definitely the wrong choice here.
