ArcheWorld
Setting: Fantasy | Developer: XL Games | Platform: PC | Release Date: Q3 2022 | Model: Free2Play
What kind of game is this? ArcheWorld is supposed to become a sandbox MMORPG that places a strong focus on Play2Earn. You will encounter blockchain technology in the game and are supposed to be able to earn money through cryptocurrency.
- The world is supposed to operate completely without loading screens.
- Players will be able to assemble their characters from different skill sets, similar to the specializations in ArcheAge.
- You will secure houses, pets, mounts, vehicles, and equipment as NFTs and will then be able to trade with cryptocurrency.
- The so-called land rush is also affected by NFTs, meaning when players in ArcheAge set out to find the best spot for housing since this takes place in the open world.
- The developers are relying on BORA as cryptocurrency. In-game you can earn the currency Archeum, which can then be exchanged for BORA.
It is currently unclear whether the game is simply an adapted version of the already existing ArcheAge or if it creates its own world in the same universe. The white paper and gameplay for the game are still pending.
For whom is it interesting? ArcheWorld targets fans of ArcheAge and cryptocurrency. If you like both and want to earn money with an MMORPG, you should check out ArcheWorld. However, if you are looking for a new main game with good gameplay and fresh ideas, you are likely to be disappointed here.
How likely is the release in 2022? 75%. ArcheWorld is being developed by XL Games, which now belongs to Kakao Games. Both the developer and the publisher have experience with global releases. They should be able to meet their target. The only thing that raises some concerns is the fact that there is still no gameplay.
Fractured
Setting: Fantasy | Developer: Dynamight Studios | Platform: PC | Release Date: 2022 | Model: Buy2Play
What kind of game is this? Fractured is a sandbox game that fundamentally resembles Ultima Online. You experience the MMORPG in the isometric perspective and are supposed to be able to play however you want. Fractured relies on a very special concept.
There are 3 playable races, each corresponding to your player type:
- If you play a beastman, you live on a planet that only has PvE content.
- If you choose a human, you will get a planet with limited PvP and a karma system for griefers.
- If you play a demon, you enter a world focused solely on PvP. Here, constant action and full loot are the priorities.
- Each planet has its own biomes, assets, and tailored geography. While it will be possible to switch between worlds, this will be heavily limited.
Fractured also dispenses with fixed classes and instead offers you a talent tree. In this tree, you can distribute your earned points according to your desires and suited to your play style. The MMORPG aims to reduce the grind aspect by constantly inviting you to explore and kill new monsters to level your skills, rather than experiencing the same activities over and over.
In the endgame, cities will be the focus, which can be controlled by different guilds and conquered in PvP. There are expected to be 30 major and over 90 minor cities that players will fight over.
Fractured is currently in a closed beta but can be openly streamed or shown in videos.
For whom is it interesting? Fractured targets sandbox fans who enjoy grinding but do not want to experience the same activities repeatedly. The special concept of the three worlds aims to appeal to both PvE and PvP fans. However, many still doubt that there will be enough content available at launch.
How likely is the release in 2022? 5%. The developers have already released Fractured in early access on Steam, but the final version is expected to take a bit longer. Everything points to a release in the first half of 2023.
