Call of Duty: Modern Warfare offers many missions, challenges, and to truly excel, it requires a lot of practice. You can tackle this over Christmas. Here are some tips on how to make the most of your free Christmas time in CoD.
If some of your usual teammates take a digital winter nap again over Christmas, you have the opportunity to complete some pending missions or challenges and refine your skills.
Plenty to do in Modern Warfare over Christmas
Surprise your teammates after Christmas with new skins, skills, and a few rounds at the top spot. With these tips, you’ll easily get through the Christmas season in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
Get the campaign achievements or trophies
Are the achievements/trophies in MW hard to obtain? The achievements are all fair and can be easily obtained with a little effort, as they are tied to tasks in the campaign and do not require anything impossible.
Which trophy requires the most effort? For the “Out of the Line of Fire” achievement, you must complete all campaign missions at least on the “Veteran” difficulty level. If you haven’t done that yet, that’s the trophy that requires by far the most effort.
What other trophies are rare? There are also a few achievements where it’s not entirely obvious how they work or that require specific behavior from the player.

Unlock operators and skins
What do the operators bring? The characters in Modern Warfare provide only cosmetic changes, but many CoD soldiers don’t want to hunt with the default skin and you can specifically unlock your favorite skin if it’s not part of the Battle Pass.
How do I unlock new operators? Choose one operator from each of the two factions and see which task you need to complete to unlock them. There are basically 4 options:
- Play the campaign
- Thorne, Wyatt, D-Day and Bale, Azur, Yegor
- Once you’ve completed the entire campaign, 6 operators will be available to you.
- Grind in multiplayer
- Charly, Domino, Raines and Minotaur, Grinch, Krüger
- Another 6 can be unlocked by completing certain tasks in MP.
- Krüger needs for example, 25 execution kills.
- Spec Ops missions
- Otter, Golem, Alice and Rodiom, Zane, Syd
- Another 6 operators can be unlocked through the co-op mode.
- Most of them are tied to specific missions.
- Skins via the Battle Pass
- By purchasing the Battle Pass for around €10, you will immediately receive the operator Mara and unlock the rewards of the BP levels you have reached so far.

The operators from the co-op mode are not easy to obtain, you should better do this in a team of 4 people.
All the others can be easily unlocked with a bit of Christmas free time and make the maps unsafe with your new outfits.
Tackle multiplayer missions
What missions are meant? In multiplayer, under the “Quarters” tab in “Missions & Challenges”, you will find many missions that will give you a lot of XP and sometimes cosmetics.
Why should I play the missions? For each mission, you can earn up to 10 cosmetics and at the same time you level up your personal rank and the Battle Pass. Since the assignments often require specific perks or play styles, you may also engage with elements of the game that are new to you.
Some of these missions require a lot of work and sometimes come with mammoth tasks like “Eliminate 15 enemies without dying.” However, there are also some manageable mission chains that still yield cool cosmetics and in the end a rare blueprint.
- Weapon Master
- Try out the different weapon classes
- For each assignment, there is a calling card themed around the corresponding weapon class
- Destruction Mode
- Here you have tasks for 7 different modes
- In addition to a few unique calling cards, there is a sticker, a spray, and an emblem
- Gunsmith Expert
- Experiment with different weapons and attachment configurations
- Sprays, calling cards, a talisman, emblem, sticker, the tasks are relatively easy to complete and yield some really good cosmetics
- Pillar
- This mission comes with support tasks and rewards you for supporting the team
- A new talisman, calling cards, an emblem, but also a cherry sticker await you as rewards.
Equipped with all these cosmetics, nothing stands in the way of a small weapon fashion show between the holidays.
Try out a new strong weapon
Why should I try new weapons? The selection of weapons in the current Modern Warfare offers many possibilities and you should especially try weapons that are considered particularly strong.
After 100 or 200 games, most players will have developed a favorite weapon or category. Everyone has their preferences, and yet it might be that you miss out on something if you don’t at least try out certain weapons a little.
Which weapons should I try? The best weapons of each weapon category are at the top of the list. The extensive modification options also allow for other calibers, and you can partially create secret weapons.

Surprise your teammates with your newly acquired weapon knowledge and show them some guns that are not exactly part of the standard equipment and offer plenty of firepower.
Try new playstyles – Run&Gun, Sniper, Support
What else can I try? Besides the weapons, playstyle can also get a bit stuck. There are soldiers who sneak slowly and carefully across the maps and marathon runners who dash from one tactical sprint to the next.
Whatever type you belong to, why not try a new flavor?
