Update 10.10.20: Fixed memory issues.
Graphics Card from AMD

That’s why I’m interested in the product: In my current PC, I still rely on the Radeon RX 570 from Sapphire. However, this still uses AMD’s old Polaris architecture. With the 5000 series, AMD has already moved a step forward and uses the new Navi architecture.
Currently, I primarily play Anno 1800, but my RX 570 struggles here. Especially when switching between areas or in very large cities, I face unpleasant framedrops. For this, an upgrade of the GPU would be worthwhile in the long run. As I’ve now gotten used to AMD’s drivers and overlays, switching to the “green” camp would only be a limited option for me.
On October 28, “Big Navi” is finally supposed to be announced, but a high-end graphics card is not worthwhile for me: I primarily play at Full HD and don’t need 4K performance for that. The 5000 series would provide me with WQHD in the long run. The option to game across two screens with high performance would also be viable.
A disadvantage of the 5000 series from AMD is that it does not offer hardware-accelerated ray tracing. Anyone interested in ray tracing with AMD will indeed have to wait for “Big Navi” or opt for Nvidia’s RTX cards. The GeForce RTX 3080 is currently hopelessly sold out.
With the potential launch of “Big Navi,” the current generation could also become a little cheaper. It’s often observed that older hardware becomes cheaper and is sold out when a new generation is approaching.
The dilemma lies in choosing which graphics card to take. I myself have had very good experiences with the manufacturer Sapphire. When it comes to the RX 5700 XT models, the model from Sapphire is the test winner at Computerbase compared to other models.
When would I buy it? The prices of the RX 5700 XT range from the custom models at around 400 euros. If the prices fall significantly below the 400 euro mark, then I would buy a model.
What do the testers say? Basically, the RX 5700 with and without XT is a successful mid-range graphics card. This is how the colleagues from GameStar describe it in their test. The graphics cards are suitable for gaming in WQHD resolution with many details, and fundamentally 4K would also be possible. Additionally, energy efficiency is significantly better than with the old generations.

Gaming Monitor

That’s why I’m interested in the product: With a powerful graphics card, a second monitor would also be worthwhile in the long run. The monitor offers 24 inches, a resolution of 1920×1080 (Full HD), and a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. Another advantage is the FreeSync mode, which is supposed to prevent screen tearing, and both AMD and Nvidia now support the standard.
Especially frustrating, as the price of the monitor varies widely on Amazon and co. Currently, the device costs €219.00 again. At peak times, however, you could buy the device for €150.00.
When would I buy it? The price of the monitor fluctuates greatly and was once on sale for under €180. I would jump at such an offer, and possibly the price could drop further through a Prime Deal. For me, that would be a good offer if it becomes cheaper again.
What do the users say? On Amazon, the monitor is rated with 4.6 out of 5 stars from 6,553 reviews. Buyers praise the high brightness and many connections. The poor factory settings are criticized, but these can be improved with personal settings.

Instead of a monitor, would you prefer a TV? Those looking for a TV for their new Xbox Series X or PS5 instead of a gaming monitor can find the best recommendations here:
RAM with RGB

That’s why I’m interested in the product: Fast RAM is always worthwhile. Especially if you have plenty of tabs open while working in the browser, listening to music, or being otherwise busy. The RAM from Corsair impresses me mainly in terms of
- processing
- lighting
- possible overclocking potential
- and the ability to link lighting with other components via software.
When would I buy it? Currently, the RAM costs a little more than €80, which is at least €40 for each 8 GB. About €60 would be acceptable for me when on sale.
What do the users say? On Amazon, the RAM is rated with 4.8 out of 5 stars based on 21,516 reviews. High performance and configurable lighting are praised. Some point out that the form factor of the RAM is higher than usual RAM.

What is the alternative? The alternative would be to go for the Vengeance RAM: it costs around €55, which is about €30 less, but unfortunately does not offer RGB. And what good is a glass front if one doesn’t use RGB?

Motherboard from ASUS

That’s why I’m interested in the product: With the ASUS ROG Strix B450-F, Asus offers a strong motherboard and performed well in testing from TomsHardware.
I currently use a cheap AM4 board, which I want to switch at the latest when upgrading to the 4th generation of Ryzen (Ryzen 5000). For just over €100, I get a good audio chipset, plenty of features of the B450 chipset, and thus a solid foundation for the future. Since I am currently waiting for Zen 3 and AMD has already stated that they want to support the 450 boards, the ASUS board is a good choice for me.
The only downside is that you can’t use multiple graphics cards on the board. However, this doesn’t bother me personally, as I am not a fan of multi-GPU systems.
When would I buy it? For the B450-F, I would be willing to spend around €100. I would buy it without hesitation if it were significantly cheaper.
What do the users say? The motherboard is rated on Amazon with 4.6 out of 5 stars based on 1,895 reviews. The high build quality and compatibility with the Zen 2 architecture are praised.

What is the alternative? The alternative would be to go straight for the stronger B550 board. The problem: The price is 40 – 60 euros higher than the smaller board. Also annoying is that the B550 chipset does not support Ryzen 3000 APUs, but does support all functions of the 4th Ryzen generation.
For some buyers, it might be interesting: For around 10 euros more, you can also get WiFi support with this board.

If the price of the expensive board drops significantly near the older board, I would also go for that.
Gaming Headset from Logitech

That’s why I’m interested in the product: With the G PRO X Gaming Headset, Logitech offers a well-constructed headset with plenty of accessories. In addition to a USB sound card and a detachable microphone, replacement ear pads and a carrying bag are also included. Furthermore, the headset has a pleasantly simple design and avoids RGB or similar features. Why would I need RGB on the headset, where I can’t see it when wearing it?
When would I buy it? At €129.00 it is currently still too expensive for me. Under €100, I wouldn’t say no given the extensive features and good microphone.
What do the users say? On Amazon, the headset is rated with 4.3 out of 5 stars based on 2,727 reviews. The great build quality thanks to high-quality materials and the good sound are praised. Some are frustrated with the G-Hub software, which does not work properly and seems overloaded.

Bonus Recommendation: Gaming Mouse from Roccat

With the Roccat Kone AIMO Gaming Mouse, there is also a personal recommendation. The original price of the mouse on Amazon is around €70 to €80. If the mouse drops a few euros cheaper, you should buy the mouse if you
- like heavy mice
- prefer to fully grip your gaming mouse
- or if you want to assign many buttons on the mouse individually with Easy-Shift.
The mouse feels grippy and high quality and does not get dirty. How you like the mouse can also be read in the test of the Roccat Kone Aimo Remastered here on MeinMMO.
When would I buy it? The recommended price is €79.99. If the price falls below €70, the mouse is definitely worth a recommendation.
What do the users say? On Amazon, the mouse is rated with 4.5 stars. Buyers praise the build quality of the mouse and the ability to assign two functions to every button simultaneously with Easy-Shift. However, some users complain about problems with the software that does not always function perfectly.
