Due to the Corona crisis, a form of lockdown (via ZDF) has been decided in the Federal Republic of Germany, which significantly restricts public life and covers at least November 2020.

What is Fortnite? Fortnite is a battle royale shooter. The genre describes games where a large number of players fight against each other in a confined area until only one last winner or a winning team remains.
In the case of Fortnite, usually up to 100 players jump from a flying bus over an island with various regions. There you will find weapons and equipment to prepare yourself for the battles.
The longer the game lasts, the smaller the playing field gets, as a deadly storm increasingly turns the play area into a death zone. This ensures that enough players are always facing each other and there is not too long a downtime between battles.
Alternatively, you can also play Fortnite in teams of up to four players. Ideal for long lockdown days.
What are the features of Fortnite? There are many battle royale games, but Fortnite has a few unique features that make it special. The primary one is building. Almost all buildings, stones, and trees in the game world can be dismantled with a pickaxe, and you collect resources like stone, wood, and iron. From this, you can build walls, stairs, and platforms that provide valuable cover in the battle.
In addition, there is a variety of weapons and items with which you fight. The gunplay is kept quite simple; most weapons have only one firing mode, and you don’t have to deal with complex features.
Fortnite also offers additional modes besides the standard battle royale mode, which are often time-limited. This includes a special mode for Halloween or modes where giant teams of up to 50 players face off against each other. So Fortnite won’t get boring anytime soon and offers a lot of content.
By the way, Fortnite runs on many platforms and offers crossplay. You can easily play on your PC while a friend prefers the PS4, another buddy the Switch, and the last companion is working on the Android phone.
What does Fortnite cost? Fortnite: Battle Royale is a free-to-play game. The entire game can be played without additional costs. However, you can spend money in the game, which among other things brings you the following advantages:
- By achieving success in the game, you gain levels on a progress bar called the Battle Pass. At certain levels, there are free cosmetic items, such as skins or animations. If you buy the premium version for 10 euros, these rewards become much more generous and beautiful.
- You can buy special outfits, called skins, for real money. This makes your avatar look different in the game than the otherwise randomly selected standard outfits.
However, if you do not want to spend a cent on Fortnite: Battle Royale, you have no disadvantages and can enjoy the game just as much as a top customer who has invested hundreds of euros in skins and battle passes.
Who is Fortnite suitable for? Fortnite is ideal if you and your buddies like to play some hearty battles in the battle royale setting. It does take some practice to master building, but the gunplay with the weapons is quite straightforward and at the beginning of the game, you’ll encounter more bots than human opponents.
These are controlled by the computer and are not a big threat. This way you can easily learn the game mechanics and only as you improve do you encounter more human players.
