Chrollo is the leader of a notorious Phantom Troupe and exudes a certain intelligence and refinement despite his cruel crimes. He is one of the biggest psychopaths in anime, due to his complexity.
The antagonist is willing to sacrifice hundreds of innocents because he sees the collective of the Spider as the highest good. For that, he would even be willing to sacrifice his own life and those of his subordinates. However, Chrollo sheds real tears when sacrificing his own protégés. This shows how respectfully he treats them.
His duality and mysterious nature are also reflected in his appearance. Sometimes he styles his hair back and looks like the lead singer of a rock band, other times he appears more casually and seems like an ordinary man. This double-edged sword makes him so interesting, even for advocates of the good.
