2014: Confirmation from a Former Valve Developer
Minh Le should be familiar to many Counter-Strike fans, as he is one of the creators of the shooter – also known as a mod of Half-Life. From 2000 to 2006, the developer worked at Valve but left the studio to pursue his own project. In a podcast with goRGNtv (Source: YouTube), Le spoke about details regarding Half-Life 3 and whether Valve is actually working on it. His response is as follows:
I don’t think I’m able to discuss that, to be honest, but I think it’s generally known that something is being worked on. I could say that I’ve seen something that resembles the Half-Life universe. And I mean, it wouldn’t surprise anyone if I said they’re working on it, yes. So if I had to stick my neck out, I’d say I’ve seen some concept art for Half-Life 3.
To what extent the information is accurate remains unclear. Studios often develop concepts and ideas for future projects months and years in advance. This means that even if Le left the studio in 2026, while Half-Life 2 was only released in 2007, it is still quite possible that he has background information about Half-Life 3 that he is not allowed to detail.
