Star Wars: The Old Republic
Developer: Broadsword | Platform: PC | Release Date: December 20, 2011 | Payment Model: Free2Play
When Star Wars: The Old Republic was released almost 14 years ago, it thrilled players with the entertaining class campaigns that guided you through the entire leveling phase, provided you with interesting NPC companions, and ultimately led to an epic finale with credits. Until then, everything was fine.
However, the tedious endgame with few group challenges and many daily quests prevented the big excitement. It simply took too long for the then-developer BioWare to further develop the strengths of the game.
The good news: Nowadays, after the original class quest lines, there is a wide range of entertaining story content that you can enjoy well (and best due to voice acting) alone at your own pace. Many missions are even designed for solo players and can only be completed without a group.
There are raids, dungeons, dailies, and PvP, but these contents still play a relatively minor, optional role. Another plus: The current developer Broadsword has recently expanded the Free2Play version and provided access to benefits that were previously paid.
The improvement of Star Wars: The Old Republic over the years is shown in an exciting number: 89 percent of over 70,000 reviews are positive. This makes SWTOR the currently highest-rated online role-playing game on Steam.
